Be sure to join The Thieves Guild in Riften, you can spot some of Stephen Russell's Garrettish work there, in addition to many NPC's on the game, like shopvendors etc.

I have to say I am enjoying Skyrim profusely, course I'm only five years behind the times but rather late than never. I have not seriously made the time for a straight up RPG since Neverwinter Nights.
