Is the game as hard as they say: Mileage may vary, but probably yes.
Is the game as unbalanced as they say: Somewhat, but its already better since last patch.
Is it any fun: if you like ARPGs, you are silly to not play this.

I am not a very good player by any means, played a bit over 200h of POE 1 without really doing much engame, according to the "standards". This game is amazingly fun, and also a little frustrating, but mostly fun. If you are on the fence, just wait for the free version in a few months, but I am glad I didnt wait.

We need more games like this.

Played it in beta.
Now replaying it on release. Still as much fun with nice small additions. For the price, much satisfactory.

Better support (beside unofficial wiki) of dedicated server wouldn't hurt. It works (beside a few bugs and glitches), somewhat annoying to setup, but once it is done, it's fine.

Pretty fun. I am glad I picked this one.
If you like poker and you dont have your panties all in a bunch, you should like this game too.

EDIT: While the game is still good, the latest change requiring a PSN account is not acceptable. Sony is forcing us to comply, even changed their own TOS after the fact to fit this agenda.

This change will force some people to falsify information on their PSN profile, since some countries either require to buy a PlayStation to have an account or disallow PSN accounts completely.

There is no benefit for us, customers, to have a PSN account. This is corporate greed.

You think we wouldn't notice this nonsense? Stop taking us for fools Sony, we are not.

I didn't read about the game before buying... shame on me. It seems to have been abandoned as soon as Easy Day Studios released the 1.x version. The modding community keeps it alive for now, but I do not have much hope for new content or bug fixes. It is a sad thing to give 40$ to a con artist (his name is Dain Hedgpeth, remember it).

The game mechanics are fun.

Very well made turn based space game, with well thought and diversified races and winning conditions.
This is the kind of game that you will come back to for years to come. You should buy it.
