Greetings stranger.
I'm just your avarage cynical trickster that simply wants to enjoy games as escapism from the brutal reality of our late stage capitalist society.. Currently embarked on a mighty quest to review most of my played games on this platform, therefor I spend a considerable chunk of my limited lifespan writing up lengthy reviews that hardly anyone reads. :wumcake:

If I have added you seemingly at random it's often simply because you have written a guide/review/content here on steam that intrigued and/or aided me. And since Steam is a maze of tangled electrons that works in mysterious ways it lets me see what else you might contribute in the future! Feel free to DM me if you feel jumped, im all ears! :rwslugcat:

A clever but lightweight deducktion game about a haunted sanatorium, quirky characters and the importance of reading your correspondence...
First of all, I loved the first Duck Detective game and was pleasantly surprised when they announced this sequel of sorts, so I picked this one up with my own cash. I will have always room for another lighthearted deconstruction of the noir detective genre featuring a duck trying desperately to stay away from the white fluffy bread.. The Ghost of Glamping takes place some time after The Secret Salami where the titular Duck Detective has fallen upon hard times and shares an apartment with the friendly and fashionably challenged Freddy Frederson. To cheer the brooding detective up he brings him to a glorious glamping in the middle of the woods and in a twist of fate, shenanigans och dark dealings ensue worthy of a proper duck detective.

The gameplay is following that sweet Obra Dinn formula of collecting clues and inserting them into a sheet of theories surrounding who's dunnit, who's who and what the hel is going on. Simply put, this is more of the same formula from the first game that I found to be on the easy side but still pretty enjoyable. There is also a story mode for those who want to play it even breezier depending on your level of sleuthing! https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3486112427
The game is just as charming and easy going as the first one and the fact that it is fully voice-acted really gives the characters an extra dimension that enhances the experience. The artwork is lovely and pastelly and the story has just the right amount of twists and turns to be lighthearted but challenging. The worldbuilding continues in the game and bodes well for a future title in the series, something I do hope will come to pass.

To be noted is that the game is kind of short, but for me that is not a problem at all. I could hold a long essay surrounding the pricing and length of modern games and how I'd rather pay a fair price for an evening of entertainment than be strung along in an endless “filler” experience with monotonous daily quests or arbitrary reasons to log in once more. Here your mileage may vary, but to me this is an indie game through and through that really deserves to get more attention, especially in the light deduction category.

Conclusion: Highly recommended! A charming lightweight game about a bread addicted duck in a trenchcoat solving a mysterious mystery with his investigator friend! It is quite short, but for an evening of entertainment with a cup of tea this is absolutely perfect! So lean back, put out the lights and let the charming story and bitesize deductions sweep you away for a couple of hours. I for sure needed some light mystery in my life as the madness sweeps across the globe.

A spiritual experience best shared with another centered around life, death and what lies beyond..
Journey is, well, a journey.. As a small hooded individual with a unique combination of glyphs as a name you trek across the ruined landscape of those that were before, in an vaguely archeological adventure. On your way you find bits and pieces of a magical scarf that lets you jump high and soar across the lands in a puzzle platformer kind of way. On your journey you can encounter other travelers with whom you can only communicate with simple chimes, all in all a strange yet serene experience of the weird understanding that is communication with simple means..

This is a surprisingly esoteric experience that really blew me away.. The first time I ran through its ethereal plains in search of an answer to my pitiful existence I was literally amazed at the subtle vistas that kept on expanding as I ventured forth across the landscapes, the cyclopean mountain ever beaconing me forward. I encountered different players who helped me find secrets and picked me up when I was in desperate need of a push. However, sadly, the first round I got weirdly stuck on one part of the game due to a glitch with my controller, which I solved by swapping to keyboard and mouse. But by the time I journeyed on my friend who had stayed by my side faithfully for the whole journey had migrated on.. So thank you whoever you were!

This game is simply amazing, and although I can see that some might find it a bit odd and maybe even dull, to me it was akin to that of Return of the Obra Dinn, an experience I will carry with me forever as one of the pinnacle of gaming as an interactive medium. I read somewhere that a bug in an early version of the game led a game tester to freeze at an opportune moment creating the stunning and emotional ending we got in the finished game, to this I can only conclude that it must have been the most fortuitous crash ever recorded!

Conclusion: Highly recommended. A spiritual journey through time and space where you meet strangers and share a strange camaraderie on your way to gain insight into what happened to the world.. Might not be for everyone, but if you, like me, share a philosophical interest, this game truly pokes on what it means to be alive. Truly special, but only in a good way!
