Great, I just wish there were more.

I have been HYPED for a sequel to ROM to finally come out, and... this isn't exactly that. This is a very different game from its predecessor, not really being an adventure game as much as a visual novel with a few adventure game elements. There really aren't any mysteries and puzzles that are all that difficult to solve. In all honesty, some of the neurodiver puzzles feel like the solutions are a little random. However, that's not the part of the game that I found significant or emotionally resonant, so it's small potatoes in my book.

The emotional core of Luna's story: her relationship with Gate and her desire to use her position as an esper to be the hero she's always dreamed of becoming was really gripping for me. I just wish there was more of a denouement at the end of the story to solidify what The Big Choice (no spoilers) meant and what its long term impact will be.

LOTS OF TECHNO, NOT MUCH BABYLON

If you like 90s point'n'clicks and equally obselete genres like cyberpunk (since it just became "an accurate descriptor of the current state of affairs), this game is gonna ROCK YOUR ♥♥♥♥♥♥ SOCKS.

The puzzles are just the right amount of head scratching without forcing you to turn to a guide.
The characters are vibrant and I'm going to be thinking about them for years to come.
And I've seen both endings and legitimately have a hard time telling you which is the "good ending" and I love this game for that.

Early Access Review
Fix your christing broken game rather than blaming the community for trying to fix it themselves.

Nothing says "romance" quite like having your parts touched by a stranger after being accused of having a penis and being told that they think incest is sexy. All within the first five minutes of meeting them.

(obligatory "trans people aren't traps anyway" comment goes here)

Completely broken for two weeks. Can't click the "continue" button on the very first screen.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled as well as verifying the integrity of the game cache. This is just shameful.

Don't listen to the alt-right manbabies swarming this game. Their nonsense is annoying and it will soon pass. Is it a good idea to use your copyright like that? Not really. Is downvote bombing a game because of the actions of the creator a mature, rational response? No.

With that out of the way, let's actually talk about the GAME.

This is a great game, albeit unconventional in a way that encourages discussion. I don't want to spoil too much by talking about themes that only become present in the later game, but rarely have I felt more like I was really roleplaying a character that was separate from myself. It's been quite some time since a game has allowed you the freedom to choose your responses as a character while still retaining that character as a cohesive individual. Instead of going the Mass Effect route where your Shepard can either be a goodie two-shoes, a douchey racist fascist, or spastically jump between the two extremes on the turn of a dime, Henry feels like Henry no matter what choices you make and both him and Delilah evoke strong empathy from the player.

The ending has become rather controversial, and that's a fair point, but this brief gaming experience is not to be missed, especially when it is on sale as it often is.

A quick tip for enjoying the game more: take your time with completing the stated goals. Go off path and let yourself enjoy just traipsing aimlessly through the Shoshone. It's so peaceful.

I thought I knew what Mahjong was. Apparently, I was mistaken.

Aside from that, there is no attempt at a tutorial or even basic localization OR translation. The UI is clunky and changing the resolution was a chore. The characters did indeed have big boobs though. Big boobs are good.

I paid just shy of nine dollars for Aerannis and thirty minutes in it's already been worth it. That's basically all you need to know, but you can read on if you want to.

Control-wise, it's what people call a "MetroidVania" game, because apparently only Metroid and Castlevania are allowed to have exploration-heavy side scrolling and shooting.

You alternately sneak, kill, and SneakyKill(tm) your way to the goal while carrying out missions in an oppressive feminist future society. Yes, you read that right. We need more games like this that actually take risks with the setting instead of having every scifi game basically stealing the universe from Blade Runner.

The social commentary and humor are where the game really shines. The dialogue is witty, references to other projects and jabs at extremist feminism and the gaming industry are plentiful, and the memes are spicy.

If the game has one shortcoming, it is the palpable lack of wacky waving arm-flailing inflatable tube men. The devs really should have foreseen this problem and I hope it will be fixed in an upcoming patch or reasonably priced DLC. Horse armor would also be a good, but less necessary addition.

You could stop at five or six stores, or just one.
I don't need friends.
They disappoint me.
