Let's just say that I'm really happy that I got this game was free as a promo with my 6800 XT. I will never understand how a developer can have so poor quality control for a "AAA" release. It's as though there was no play testing conducted at any point in real-world machines.

There have been a number of patches to address a freezes, stuttering, and an abysmally low FPS issue, all of which seem to bring a new host of problems. For example: the most recent patch as of writing this (12/18) broke the textures where they will no load entirely. I've reset the shader cache several times to no avail.

This is honestly just Dead Space regurgitated in 2022. The gameplay is meh with way too many predicable jump scares made painfully apparent by the music which I get was supposed to induce a sense of dread and tension but was, again, only a precursor for the aforementioned "scare".

It's a pretty game when it runs and makes for some nice screen captures. Admittedly, I haven't finished the game at the time of writing this, but I can't imagine my opinion is going to change between now and whenever that may be. I can't see anything groundbreaking or earth-shattering happening in the remaining hours of the campaign that'll blow me away.

If you're thinking of picking this up, no you're not. Pick up Dead Space or wait for this to go on (a really good) sale.
