Having played the game extensively (did a 23h stream getting the 100% completion and a whole day of speedrun), here is my review:

Biomorph is a Metroidvania, its hook and gameplay loop is a Kirby-like mechanic where you have the ability to morph into the enemies you have dispatched, which helps you do puzzle solving and further your exploration of the many different biomes you will be encountering in the game. This mechanic is extremely well implemented and checks all the boxes when it comes to variety and addictiveness.

There is a LOT to see here as there are an inordinate amount of locales to see. Once you realize the size of the whole map, you'll realize how daunting a task it will be to explore it all, yet, it is a joy all throughout.

Graphics are fantastic for this style of game. All 2D hand drawn animated and very endearing.. Also, for a game like this and a studio of this size, you will be impressed and thrilled to see that there are cutscenes throughout all the game to carry the story.

The story in and of itself is a spin on the classic tale of ressource gathering, but at what cost to the inhabitants of the planet. It's nothing too revolutionary but there are nice twists and turns along the way to keep the formula fresh.

On the music side, you're looking at a game with a very modest soundtrack (1 song per location), yet throughout all my time with the game, I've never grown tired of it. Songs do a nice job of conveying the mood and story behind the biome you are in.

Finally, gameplay wise, aside the main hook of the game, which is to borrow the powers of your enemies, I'm pleased to report that the game controls extremely well. Inputs are responsive and snappy, no floatiness in running/jumping/sliding. Gunplay is fantastic as the controls allow for creativity and precision in the way you choose to tackle the challenges ahead.

All in all, a fantastic package, which is diametrically opposed to the kind price to experience ratio you get in today's AAA gaming landscape. At its launch price, this game is a steal in all aspects and I do not think you will regret any minute of your adventure while also feeling financially respected.

On a numerical scale, this game is a solid 8.5!

This Metroid-Vania action adventure game is the first of, let's hope a continuing stream of hits from a very brilliant, talented albeit very small indie studio. Of course, it is not a AAA affair, but what it lacks in the "traditional fireworks" department is far compensated by a very well crafted and engaging narrative, a dreamy soundtrack that fits the scenery and action at all times, enticing art style, dialogues that will put a smile to your face as well as some of the tightest controls of the genre. It is not an easy game, but mastering its mechanics makes it a very rewarding affair. The puzzle-like approach to boss fights makes these encounters fresh and interesting.

In the bugs department, this game makes me reminisce of the good old days of complete releases that didn't need day one patches. I have encountered only two noticeable bugs. One during the 3rd boss fight when his second damage phase never kicked in (necessitating a reload). The second during a raft traversal section where the raft became unresponsive until I pressed the button to call it again even though it was already there. Aside these and one or two typos depending on your language preference, this title is virtually bug free. Nothing game breaking in the least as well as no crashes whatsoever.

I higly recommend this game to anyone craving for an artsy 2D action adventure title to occupy the time. It is not too long and not too short. First playthrough took me a little more than 7h and that is including every secret you can find. Also recommended if you're looking for something that'll take the edge off from online competitive gaming or even something to enjoy in between big releases (looking at you Cyberpunk). Just the music alone makes it a worthwhile endeavour, don't skip on this as I'm sure you'll fine a lot to like if you're a fan of the genre.

Absolute gem of an ARPG that is rivaled by none. Not for the faint of heart. Extremely hardcore and complex in scope and depth. Nothing is being spoon fed to the player, you learn via trial and error. Definitely worth a look.
