2 years after release lots of the bugs/incorrect behaviour of units/not working objectives are still in the game. Very sad, would be a good game if polished, but not like this.

update 04/2024:
after hardware update game runs a lot better. most mayor issues have been adressed. still some minor oddities and occasional unreal crash.

Another unfished unpolished release like so many, come back in 5-6 patches.

i give up on trying to like this game. It manages to make Space-Marines feel like Imperial army troopers.
The way the Grey Knights in this game play after 10 Lvl Ups is how they should be at the start the game.

What i don´t like:
- no description/briefing prior to mission. u don´t even know what needs to be done until AFTER u deploy ur troops
- u get unlimited Blood Angels, if u loose a unit just get a new one
- loosing units/preserving units is of no consequence unless heros
- units don´t advance/evolve individualy, just in general through army upgrades
- game has the typical console ui-layout we have to live with these days

If those had been done right it would have been a very good WH40K game. Sadly it turned out mediocre. If u like turn based games or the table top this will surely give u some nice time.

10 crashes in 6h playtime. i played on 2 different pretty good machines. way too unstable at the moment wait a patch or 3.

500h played.

sadly i cant recommend battle brothers. its like playing a pen and paper rpg with a bad and inexperienced gamemaster who throws the big guns at ur lvl 1 party. it just no fun at all. in current state too unbalanced and too luck based.

if u played the originals in the 80´s and liked them stop thinking and buy the remaster.

if u were unlucky and have been born too late to enjoy the original heres ur chance, but beware ur about to play one of the first "rpg","dungeon crawler" or whatever genre u want to put it in that was ever created. it can be hard and very unforgiving. if ur new to bards tale play high attention to the hints u can find in the houses near the guild to start getting along.

i made it to the annoying red forest(u know what i mean if uve been there) and it get worse and worse.

- the map is pretty useless for a map since u have no way to influence it like taking notes or placing markers.

- i have 2 guardians since i wanted that heavy armor on my tanks. guess what? they die now evry fight cause the guardian ability is complete nonsense. place 2 guardians next to each other and watch them kill each other.

- enemy skills fire after the fight is over killing ur group if unlucky. i noticed that first with skeleton archers on top of mangar tower, those 8 waves in front of spectre snare. not having a fight log makes it diff to say what skill they are using but it looks like arrow rain.

- several skills have no effect at all or dont work as described. yes of cause a bug here and there, none would complain. but currently its like 4-5 skills per class not working properly, if the skill works like it should get a better writer to describe them.

and this is only stuff about the game part thats working. not talking about crashes/grafic glitches/gettiing stuck in weird places/having to print a codewheel(users had to provide the online version, how embarrassing), etc etc etc

sadly i played too much alrdy for a refund. if u plan on buying it wait at least till november for some early patches.
but overall a big disappointment.

"...like FF tactics..." Nope its not, not even close to it. The classes are nice, items and stuff is nice too. graphics are ok to look at. menus are the usual "We need it on consoles to earn mones with this game"-Style. so far so ok. when it comes to game mechanics it stops feeling like a tactical game. its impossible to predict something, cause what u see is not what u get. this refers mainly to the hight of the area. sometimes a highed difference between to squares roughly about half a toon equals 2-3 hight lvls sometimes it equals 5-6 highed lvls. in the tooltip a spell can branch 10 highed lvls but it doesnt hit. the tool tips are very vague, u wont have a clue what stuff is until u test a lot, no glossary. no decent hint. there is no way to decently block enemy movement. they will just walk past u like u arent there. no free hits against passersby, no area of controle. since its statted that the game mechanics are in place mostly i cant recommend this game. it just doesnt feel like tactics more like "lets do something an pray the KI wont notice it can kill stuff easily". and guess what, the KI wont kill a toon it could kill easily. sometimes it will just ignore it and go for a toon with full health instead.

nice try, but missed the mark by far

revisit after full release. no changes to first review. as expected none of the issues have changed.
