It's a big shame that the Atari Recharged games seem to be abandoned and not good for the Atari name. Black Widow has two glaring bugs that were never fixed: the wrong game (Centipede) playing on the menu 'attract' screen, which is just total cringe, and a bug that restricts the variety of power-ups in Recharged mode, which makes that mode a bit repetitive.

It's addictive and well made otherwise, being both faithful to the arcade original and a thoughtful update. But I'm not going to recommend a game that's abandoned and might suddenly stop working altogether. Buy if you're a fan or it's at a huge discount.

Asteroids: Recharged definitely has that one more game appeal. It's faithful to the arcade original with modern twists, which mostly work.

One aspect that doesn't work for me is the constant gorging on power ups. These are literally fed to the player after shooting (often accidentally) the associated saucer, making the whole process an unavoidable banquet of bonuses. In Recharged mode you get the power ups whether you want them or not, which can be infuriating.

As with the arcade original, the asteroids themselves pose almost no threat, even less so with the power ups. It's a battle between the player(s) and those little saucers with deadly accuracy. But this affect enjoyment too much.

Overall I recommend but it's not without its flaws. Curiously it seems that some of these problems were addressed for the arcade cabinet version, but the Steam version wasn't updated.

Great game at the moment as long as the bots don't return. A good year, 64-bit update, anti-bot and a reasonable summer update.

It has the potential to be a remasterpiece but has been released with lots of small bugs and just general untidiness. These all add up to make it feel unfinished and they're being very slow to release a patch (it's now two days short of a month). It's a shame that so many people will have played through it before they get it right.

That's my only criticism, it's otherwise from a golden era reborn. The modern controls option is terrible but unnecessary, those complaining about the original controls are probably just inexperienced with older games. But I can't recommend it at the moment. Wait for a major patch and promotional discount before buying.

Anyone with a handheld like the Steam Deck should definitely give this a try. It plays great and has aged amazingly well. It looks like a new game. The story and voice acting are good too with comicbook interludes and continues directly into the next 2 instalments. It has full controller support the only thing missing is button icons.

It's good, I played through it several times years ago, but it needs a remaster like Quake has had. A remaster could add the Portal of Praevus content and maybe tweak a couple of the quests that would baffle today's gamers (expectations have changed since the '90s).

Easily worth the money as is the Necromancer expansion for those wanting more. Potentially hours and hours of play, I could play this forever it's so addictive. Works solo, local co-op and online too, both public and private. Playable with keyboard & mouse but better with a controller. Various game modes too: campaign, endless & colosseum. It's a blast and the community is really friendly. A shame the in-game items are not more balanced but that's the only negative.
