Early Access Review
Fantastic survival game!
No zombies, no enemy soldiers, no aliens or vampires. Your adversary here is the cold and scarcity of food.
A wonderful expansive environment awaits your exploration if you survive long enough to find/craft some decent clothing.
You'll feel the panic rise as you get totally disoriented in a heavy snow storm.
You'll feel elation as you snare your first rabbit.
You'll feel terror as a bear charges you.
You'll feel relief as you make it home to your warm cabin after a long day scavenging carcasses.
This game is so brilliantly balanced that you never feel cheated, but survival is tough. You need to plan your outings into the cold, and make the most of the daylight hours to attend to your immediate needs, when things work out it's hugely satisfying, and when they don't your situation can become dire, but there are plenty of resources to aid you if you're determined to live.
The UI works untuitively and quickly whilst leaving the screen uncluttered, I play with an xbox controller and everything is fast and easy. Mouse and keyboard works well too.
The Audio is worth special mention - The distant cries of wolves, the howling wind, the creaking of your cabin and the crunching of the snow are wonderfully rendered and the immersion and atmosphere created by the soundscape is really something special.
The game is 'Early access' and things are being added, the devs seem to care very much about their product, are open to suggestions so I believe the game will only get better, but just as it is now is worth your pennies.
Buy this game, you'll love it.

Just to add that since the recent update you now automatically harvest oil when you cook fish. This will fill a jerrycan if you have one in your inventory, or it will just create the smaller lamp oil bottles if not.

Great review and thanks for answering my question.

I don't believe you can refill the Jerry can at present. The filler caps on vehicles currently have no function, quite possibly in a future update though. I normally find plenty of fuel for lanterns, but I only use them when necessary, rarely for crafting or reading at night.

Is there a way to refuel the Jerry can except for harvesting lanterns? I tried clicking on the fuel cover on cars and nothing is happening? Thanks.

Oops, in reply to the question I accidentally deleted, no you can't play on servers. The way the game handles the passing of time makes multiplayer impossible. You're on your own, and the melancholic, contemplative places you find yourself in are what makes this experience so unique.
