Early Access Review
Be mindful of the fact that this is still in early-access, so yes, there are bugs/glitches. Most of them are of the funny nature, tho.

Sons of Forest expands on the successful concept of its predecessor: Survive and build on an island with hostile natives.

The most eye-catching improvement to the prequel is the graphic. The island looks absolutely beautiful, especially the rivers. Moreover, there are seasons now and the winter gives the whole island a new, charming look.

The building system got an overhaul as well. It might still be a bit glitchy here and there, but it gives you a lot more freedom to place stuff than before. Logs can now be arranged in a cube form and defense walls can be placed one log at a time. The customization is even more bountiful than before.

You also get a fellow AI companion (or two) this time. Kelvin might not be the smartest tool in the forest, but he does come in handy, especially if you just wanna build ur empire and let him gather stuff for ya.

The enemies got more varations, too, and are even fighting amongst each other. The difficult settings can apparently get a bit glitchy, so you might get overwhelmed by enemies despite lower settings or even underwhelmed on higher settings. It's kinda hit or miss for now.

The caves are still as spooky as in part 1, but not that impressive so far. They are no longer a joined underground system like before, instead seperate POIs with different loot. I do hope they will work on the caves a bit more.

All in all, I can recommend this game in good conscience. If you were a fan of The Forest, you will love this as well. And even if you are new to it, it's pretty much a steal for this price. Going by the successful EA run of the first game, you can be pretty sure the devs won't rest until Sons of Forest is polished into another masterpiece again.

10/10
