Early Access Review
tl;dr: This game alone makes the $800 I spent on an Oculus Rift worth it.

In its early days, I would have had a hard time recommending H3VR to most people, or even myself. It was a sandbox game with very little in the way of goals or objectives. Sure, the firearms were meticulously detailed with realistic operation and ballistics simulation, but it still required you to make your own fun.

That was then, this is now. Rust Ltd. and the principal developer Anton Hand have been extremely active over the past several years, adding not just heaps of new guns and other weapons, but also engrossing goal-based game modes. Take & Hold, where you collect randomized loot and defend capture points against robot hot dogs, is alone worth the price of admission - and that's before the extensive revamp that's currently under way.

And that's just the beginning... other modes include the arena-style Meatmas Snowglobe, Old West theme park Wurstworld, zombie rogue-lite adventure Return of the Rotweiners, and survival horror Meat Grinder, which I swear I'll work up the courage to play any day now. And then there's the recently-released Meat Fortress, which chucks all semblance of realism out the window to let you play with TF2's weapons in VR. And if you couldn't already tell from those pun-filled names, it's all surrounded by a winking sense of humor that stands in stark contrast to the (mostly) realistic weapons. Really, I don't think I'd have nearly as much fun with H3VR if it took itself at all seriously.

So yeah, one of the best VR games currently available. The worst I can say about it is that the controls can be tricky to figure out, and not as well explained as they might be. But between the "Sampler Platter" scene and Anton's tutorial videos, you can bring yourself up to speed with a little effort.
