Under no circumstances should this game be purchased, or any other game in the 2k series for that matter. not long after release the servers were cancelled making it impossible to play online or access community creations. Almost nothing has changed from previous games in the series such as wwe2k16. so if you already own that then there is no reason to buy this product. Moreover it is only ever worth it to buy the most recent game in the series and when the next years game comes out this games servers will be gotten rid of.

I'd like to start off by saying that across the steam version and the pre steam version I have over 4000 hours played on this game. I have played the game, albeit with short breaks, consistently since season 1 back in 2014. I have seen the various highs and lows of the game and I feel I'm in a good position to evaluate the good and bad aspects about this game.

The good:

Most characters in this game have genuinely been derived from mythology and have interesting lore and are interesting beyond the superficial level.

Purchasing the All gods pack is a small, one time payment that gives you access to all current and future gods, forever. This is much better than other MOBA games which can cost you a fortune just to get the full game experience.

There are a variety of different and unique feeling game modes which tailor to different kinds of player.

The Bad:
I have played this game on multiple systems across many years and the game has consistently had problems running. Whether that be taking 2 minutes to boot up, randomly crashing or sudden frame drops on a $3,000 PC

The report system is almost useless. You get a notification when action has been taken against a player you have reported and this has happened to me only 20 or so times in the 7+ years I have been playing the game. All of my reports are genuine and I end up having to report someone at least once a night (when playing for 5+ hours) due to racism, trolling or excessive flaming. No action is ever taken against any of them because if it did happen I would be notified.

The game suffers from power creep to a ridiculous extent. with only a few exceptions, every god that is released is more powerful than the previous gods. If you follow this to its logical conclusion over an 8 year period then many of the original gods are underpowered compared to their newer counterparts.

The smite pro league has an outsized influence on the game. If a pro player complains once about a god being overpowered then you can bet the next patch they will be nerfed. Regardless of what the rest of the community thinks or how overpowered they really are.
Late at night in your timezone it can be very difficult to get a match because there aren't enough players populating queues for games other than arena / conquest. I am a joust / Siege main and it is not uncommon to wait 10 minutes between games.

The game is balanced around conquest but statistically speaking it is not even the most popular game mode. This leaves gods like Ne Zha being incredibly overpowered in joust and ares overpowered in arena for as long as I can remember and they will never be nerfed because they are not op in conquest.
