Paradox tried to mix 4X and grandstragety and made a game that does not apeal well to its fanbase.

If you want a good grand stragety game do not buy this.

If you want a good 4x game do not buy this.

If you want an "Okay" 4x and grand stragety game then this is a good game.

Hearts of Iron IV is too simple in comparison to HOI3. I know people have already said it, but HOI4 is just not as complex behind the scenes and the only reason it is easier is because of the interface and tooltips. I feel the people writing these reviews saying that game is just as detailed as HOI3 have not given the game a proper chance.

My fear is that you guys will read the postive reviews and decide to add DLC which adds useless features that ultimately don't add to the game. I fear that you will not add an OOB which is needed for the already over simplified battle plan system. I fear that you wont make researching as detailed as HOI3 whereas you could research just the guns or armor or engine etc if you wanted to focus on just that.

My point is, Paradox, you have done something amazing with HOI3, please do not lose sight of your original goals for the series. Please do not turn HOI4 into the simplified game that is your other games. I enjoy ck2 and eu4 but i also enjoy the detail of previous releases to the hearts of iron series.

Do not buy this. It has zero mac support. Game is unplayable on mac.

I will update my review when the game is fixxed for mac.

On this day, Two years ago, This came onto steam.
Two years later and it is still on 'early access'...

Beta for two years? Seems hella sketchy. Game has about 20hours of gameplay and you get bored really quick. Don't buy this game and don't wait for it to be realsed. HL3 has a better likly hood of coming out tommow then this does in the next two years.

Edit: it's not too bad anymore. Still a few bugs but not nearly as many gamebreaking bugs as it was opon release. I'd Recommend this to anyone who loves mount and blade warband, yet wants a DLC that has to little features to be consindered an 'expanison'. This my friends, is for those who want a paid mod.i would recommend waiting to get it on sale as it is not worth the current price.

super buggy game is completely unplayable

the game has potential but it suffers from MANY issues such as the match making system every game is bascily 2:1. if you enjoy back and fourth trench-warfare you will like this game, but wait untill they fix the bugs.

The mac&linux support is awful the game is unplayable and suffers from many game breaking bugs.
the game claims to be in 'beta' but is clearly in a much lower state of development.

i'll update my review if these probelms are propely fixed for both mac and linux
