A meticulous game that has substantial new (and free!) content roughly every 3 months. I'm not the oldest player but the game has seriously improved from a very playable and enjoyable game a few years back to being a refined, deep, dynamic, and fulfilling experience that I have not even fully gotten into with all my hours of play.

The game has things to chase after for those who have the time and are able to play more while also providing a great pick up and play experience for the more casual player.

I would say that the systems in place that make the game truly innovative and interesting may be slightly daunting and overwhelming at first but the friendly community (reddit and otherwise) as well as new tutorials and progression design really help ease new players into the game much better than before.

The sheer amount of content means that you will have a lot to explore, and even more to find if you're a completionist.

Also, the entire game is completely free! The only things monetized are cosmetic micro-transactions. One caveat are additional stash tabs which I highly recommend getting but is completely optional.

This one of the few games that I get excited while playing the game, and even more excited preparing to start a new Challenge League (similar to Seasons and Ladder in Diablo 3 and 2 respectively).

Free is a great price to pay to try it out and if you ever get stuck. Definitely check out the Path of Exile Wiki as well as the /r/PathofExile Subreddit!
