Okay, so far negative reviews have covered:
- price tag being too high
- the word font being TOO TINY (i swear i'm not even gonna comment on that one)
- how singleplayer is just a painful experience and ai is beyond trash

Out of all these points, the last one is the only valid.

So, let me give you some recommendation. If you:
- look for a singleplayer experience
- are physically unable to look up key resellers
- are 70+ years old and dying of a stroke the moment a monster appears
- are 70+ years old and forget your glasses every two minutes
- are not willing to go for a more complicated game
- are not willing to give a thought while playing a game
move on. If you, however:
+ liked Space Station 13
+ want to play a game where life is actually valuable (as in death is actually scary)
+ want to play an actual coop experience, especially with friends
+ want to play a coop PvP experience, where you PvE and may be winning by just surviving
get it.

Barotraumas features are really not as much as in DF or SS13, but it doesn't have their development time tbh. So far FakeFish has been very active and open about their gameplan and the feedback they received. It is, in my honest opinion, one of the better releases.
