I also grew up playing Mechwarrior 2 and Mechwarrior 2 mercs which i wish they would just release new versions of. Mechwarrior 4 to the present is just not battletech its sad. The only thing that kept me going was the lore. Regardless of how you feel i just enjoy talking about all of this. I really miss playing. I usually have the soundtracks from those old games going while i play this new battletech.
I'm not sure how my clear, cogent explanation of how this is a poorly designed computer game is preventing you from playing. Also trying to step to me over p&p is a joke. Feel free to love your poor game all you want, but the fact is that the story is excruciatingly badly written, prizes GMPCs over the player characters, the mechanics of low damage weapons are all messed up because they don't work as intended, and the intentional slowing (that requires editing an ini file to turn off) is just insulting.
I get it. you really wanted this to be good. You sunk hundreds of hours painting miniatures in battletech and warhammer, and thats totally OK. But the fact that you mindlessly love the product doesn't make you right. Sorry.
You probably didn't play the table top pen and paper version. Just uninstall it off your PC and let the fans play.
