I really want to like this game. I very rarely leave negative reviews but I like this game and I'm hoping a few well-meaning negative reviews will prompt some needed changes.

The vibes and core gameplay are precisely what I was looking for. The characters, the voices, the visuals, having to get out of my seat and work on the truck, it's all amazing and really well executed. But there are some core things that are not well executed that make the game extremely frustrating to play:

* Lack of 6DOF controls - From what I can gather, this is an intentional design decision, but one I don't really understand. I've seen other plays say something along the lines of "this is a trucking game that happens to be in space and trucks don't have 6DOF controls". OK great, except the game demands 3D movement. If the game constrained me to a 2D plane like a truck, and just had a space aesthetic, then requesting 6DOF controls would be ridiculous. But the game frequently demands that I precisely orient the vehicle in 3D dimensions. To demand that without offering 3D controls creates an extremely frustrating experience where I am constantly having to do things like pitch my truck high "up" and immediately "down" just to change my position a little upward. In my mind, this is the core problem with the game and a dealbreaker. Everything else is a mild annoyance but this honestly makes the game borderline unplayable for me. Some people may point out that airplane flight simulators have no need for 6DOF controls but that is an entirely different gameplay model. In an airplane I'm not backing up to specific areas at a specific attitude, or weaving around debris and vehicles.

* Debris - I'm not sure what the gameplay goal of debris is. It's very difficult to spot, even at relatively low speeds, and very difficult to dodge because of the lack of 6DOF / 3D controls.

* Lack of direction / driving lanes - The game has a few highway-like driving lanes which are very much appreciated (even though they also move up and down despite there not being 3D controls). It's entirely possible that I'm missing something, but I don't believe these "roads" actually go where I need to go. Instead, I have to traverse across empty space and just sort of hope that I don't encounter any traffic coming in at another angle. It's like trying to navigate a parking lot but in three dimensions and with everyone driving 60mph.

* Lack of a GPS-like feature - This compounds with the lack of driving lanes. The game just shows where my destination is with no indication of how to accomplish getting there. This leads to me just finding the straightest line I can find and hoping nothing else gets in the way.

Apologies to the developers for leaving a negative review. I know they're impactful and I know no one likes to hear that folks aren't enjoying their game. I'm going to keep an eye on this and would love to check back in and see that these issues were addressed. 3D movement dictates 3D/6DOF controls.

It's like Factorio but not unpleasant to look at. Thumbs up.

This is exactly what I was hoping from a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. I've barely even seen any tech issues. I think the worst I've seen was when one character's head loaded a few seconds before his body. In general visuals and atmosphere are fantastic, right out of the box. I'm thoroughly enjoying my time so far and looking forward to exploring more of the Zone.

EDIT: 35 hours later.. yep! Still loving it!

A lot of people are complaining that this is "just Far Cry with a new skin". Well, I haven't played a Far Cry since Far Cry 3 so I'm not burned out on it. Getting to explore the world of Avatar in an open world game has been a delight so far. It looks gorgeous and plays great. And for someone like me who enjoyed Far Cry but hasn't played "one of those" in a long time it's been a lot of fun.

I'd say if you've played a lot of Ubisoft games recently and/or you're not a fan of the Avatar films, this game probably isn't for you.

I'm only just getting started but am looking forward to playing more.

The DRM completely sucks and I kind of regret not waiting for it to be removed before purchasing it. It sends the wrong message. I can't even remember the last time I considered pirating a game, but I looked into it for this one because I didn't want the crappy DRM, not because of any issues with the price tag.

Early Access Review
TLDR: this was clearly released prematurely, likely under pressure from the publisher. It's nowhere near ready yet but I have full confidence it will get there. Check back in 6-12 months.

I've got just over 800 hours on KSP1. I've been playing for more than ten years. I love Kerbal. This isn't Kerbal. Here is the recipe for making KSP2:
- Start with KSP1.
- Remove several critical features.
- Shuffle around the UI for no apparent reason.
- Take the "jank" knob and turn it from "charming" to "irritating".
- Make it so that instead of opening the control panel for a single part (perhaps pinning it in a useful place) you have to open the control panel for all parts, which takes a second or two to load.
- Add some very nice sound design.
- Add some pretty nice graphics.. but forget to optimize it.
- Lastly, be sure to leave in some unmissable and simple bugs like notes-to-self from the devs, the "game paused/unpaused" indicator adding an extra instance every once in a while, "toggle to map" only toggling in one direction, etc.

I love KSP, and I'll be checking in with KSP2 as it progresses. I fully understand that this is Early Access, but this is truly early access. It feels like a rough alpha. I have full confidence that it will get there! But it probably needs at least a year more time before it's ready for people to play it.
