Review for: Cuphead

Cuphead was the first game that I fell in love with before it even came out. I already had a soft spot for the game, because of the art style and the gameplay trailers we got showed before by the creators. The hour it came out I have already bought it.

Cuphead starts off with Cuphead and his brother Mugman roaming the woods and stumbling upon a casino, they gamble and win many times until the devil shows up and screws them over. He then wants to take their souls but they beg him not to, so he makes them a deal that if they take the souls of his debtors he will let them go. So thats what they end up doing.


Soon after the introduction you get dropped in to the open world, here you can do bosses and missions that become available to you. Once you've beaten every boss on regular the game will progress its story and you will be able to move on to the second world.

Cuphead is a platformer in heart. The core gameplay is solid and fun. Cuphead feels good to control, And jumping feels responsive and fast. The attack types that are available: Peashooter (starting weapon),Spread,Chaser,Lobber,Charge,Roundabout. You also get ''Supers'' which are a powered up attack that deals a lot of damage, you can have three different types.


Other than ''weapons'' and ''supers'' you can also purchase ''charms'' which give you some sort of buff like for example the invincibility dash or the extra health point.


There isn't really much to collect in this game besides getting all gold coins and all unlockables.


This review is based on the latest build of Cuphead on Steam.

If youre a big fan of platformers like Rayman 2 and if you have a soft spot of cheesy Saturday morning cartoons Cuphead will be right up your ally.
