Absolutely incredible game both extremely fun and completely entrancing in terms of time. If you want to kill time, this is the game to do it in.

The only negatives I can give to the game are these;

- Visually its beautiful but it lacks the grit that warhammer should bring, yes the effects are cool and you can still have armies covered in eachothers blood and such but there is a bit too much colour to the world something that the first warhammer total war game did very nicely.

- The lack of a day/night cycle. Now this one is contentious but I actually really love the mod that provides the day and night cycle and it would be a great oppertunity for the devs to bring some grim dark beauty to the night even mechanics for things from the lore. I realise there is no way to really calculate time like that in the game but it would be a wonderful "optional" thing that would add a lot of atmosphere and immersion to the game frankly. Especially night time battles.

- Corruption. This ones interesting, corruption and how it was visually before seemed darker and not only that but the way it was removed in my opinion was better as well. It gave me a much more important reason to built captains and so fourth to push back against it. So I do wish they would go back to the first games manner of dispelling it just with a bit more efficiency. I understand the reasons for them changing it but I honestly preferred it as it was.

- City visual conversions & region trading. So there are mods for this but its not entirely without bugs and this is something that irks me because you should be able to see a visual change in the cities when conquered (though there is some arguement as to why they shouldn't) this will make it easier for people to keep track of their cities but also just make it generally more immersive say someone wants to reclaim the entire world from the "stone dwelling" men and rebuild the woods well you cant do that by conquering cities and living in stone homes as wood elves thats dumb.

City trading as well is something that irks me you should be able to trade regions/cities with allies in order to help them survive on harder difficulties and give them more options but also for immersive purposes too if you're trying to create your own story in the campaign while following the games own narrative sort of a head cannon. I realise there would be balance issues but it would be so good to have this.

Finally 1 more;

MORE ENVIROMENTAL SOUNDS FOR REGIONS, the map feels too quiet there is almost no ambience at least in my opinion.

But thats it, aside from those things I adore this game, its absolutely wonderful.

Fun but dissapointing.

The campaign missions were a lot more fun than the base game missions from the original RA3 game but they are far too few, obviously its just an expansion but we all remember that expansions used to be almost as long as the main game they're attached too. This just isn't the case here, 4 missions for the soviets, 3 for the allies, 3 for the Empire and then 3 for Yuriko.

Its a nice diversion with some fun new units (Empire has the most epic high tier units a big floating head that shoots a giant beam of death that also explodes after making a line on the ground nukes pretty much everything.

Overall a nice diversion if you're just trying to kill time but dont have high expectations for the duration or any kind of fun story.

SPOILERS:

Soviets: Rebellion.
Allies: Put down A rebellion and then get betrayed by tatsu
Empire: Rebuild
Yuriko: Find sister only to be betrayed by sister.

Yeah not the greatest stories. As stated though, its a nice diversion. I guess its a bonus if you're just playing for the MP... because of the new units and maps and such. GL HF

There are very few games I will ever say are 100% worth your money.

But this is it. Witcher 3 is the culmination of work many thought would never get completed, CPDR went backrupt trying to deliver the witcher 2 and while rushed it set the stage for this game and by the time they were done.... well. Its fantastic. It has a fully fleshed out modding community, it has beautiful scenery. The gameplay is incredibly fun and immersive - the story telling and narrative are absolutely fantastic the game does not treat you like a child nor does it virtue signal you either. You make the choices and those choices have consequences throughout the game. Buy it. You won't regret it, it can feel like its starting off slow and such but once you get going you'll want to be taking contracts constantly, doing everything on the map flashing out your witcher skills and on and on. One of the few games I have no regrets in purchasing.

Two things though; fall damage exists and is painfully bad. Go to Nexus Mods and the witcher 3 section on the site and search for "no fall damage" honestly while it can be sort of over powered, it is not that immersion breaking honestly....because without it geralt will die from a fall that a small child would survive. So yeah.

If you feel the economy is a big meh i.e how much gold traders have and how much you can sell items for there are items for that too.... there are more mods out there if you wish to tweak things a bit more such as darker nights to bring a more horror feeling to fighting monsters and such, better torches and so forth and fast travel from anywhere mods.

Enjoy the game! its ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fantastic.

One of the best if not THE best games I've played since its prior incarnations of DOOM 2016. An absolute must for anyone who loves fast movement satisfying gun play (so many guns!) and challenging levels as well as exploration via smashing through things and collectables. AI is far more aggressive this time round with a wider variety of enemies.

If you do absolutely everything blind then a single playthrough can take you up to 20 hours if you're trying to blind run all the secrets and everything (which is totally worth it because of praetor suit points and crystals AND the sentinel batteries. I'd wager a non-blind run would probably take about 12 unless you're just trying to speed run.

Pros:
- No Gun you have in your arsenal is useless. Its not just Super Shotgun and win anymore.
- WIDE variety of enemies.
- Man Cave Super Space Station, with unlockbles and some secrets!
- Slayer gates.
- Secret Encounters.
- Carnage.
- Hilarious death animations (Demons only)
- DOOM GUY!
- The SUPER shotgun.....it now has a Scorpion mechanic. Except its not "GET OVER HERE" its "IM COMING FOR YOU!"
- 3 OP weapons and you can carry them all at the same time. Yes the BFG has friends.
- Hands down one of the best if not THE BEST OST track lists I've heard in almost a decade.
- Even with a GTX 980 (no Ti Swagger) and a 4790k this game runs really smooth with everything on high (honestly the game looks even better on higher settings but its still GOREgous on high).
- World building for DOOM absolutely stunning and wonderful (ID you guys did extremely well here)
- Environmental Story telling
- Just the perfect amount of character buiiding for doom guy. Perfect.
- The story is actually really freaking good. Yeah I know IN a doom game. BUT ITS GOOD.
- So much lore! (The codexs are a really good read as well whoever wrote them needs a writing award or something). Seriously though READ the Codex's they have so much lore and information in them and if you're smart enough you can put together the larger story before its even fed to you in the main story without ruining the story for you.

Cons:
- 1 or 2 of the secret encounters need an area rethink especially for higher difficulty players.

That's it! That's the only Con.

TD;LR - It runs smooth, plays and feels fantastic and has one of the greatest OST Track listings ever and its ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fun. If you love FPS games and games that make you feel like an absolutely BEAST do it. Buy DOOM Eternal... If you don't well....I suppose DOOM comes for all eventually haha

Unlike IGN My reviews can be somewhat scathing and I don't normally give 10/10 most of the time but in this instance I will give a 10/10 The Flawless Conqueror of the FPS Genre.

In all seriousness if you are thinking about playing DOOM Eternal please buy it and don't use a cracked version, I know a lot of you don't want to support Bethesda by extension but ID really do deserve the recognition here. They've made an awesome and fun game and it deserves the purchase. Without A doubt.

Fantastic fun, though a little drab at times and feels drawn out in places. The combat system and visuals for its time are fantastic and great fun and you never feel like you're grinding for progression it somewhat comes naturally. However the story is far too short. Completed in half a day not even that. For what it seems it was trying to achieve, it did extremely well - replayability though eh not really and the progression itself felt more like flat bonuses. No armor/shield customisation (i.e iconography or something) which would of worked for the time (the customisation does not need to go overboard or something).

The military formation pushes, turtle tactics.. loved it. It was wonderfully immersive and you really did feel like a roman solider.

I haven't touched the multiplayer.

Overall... for its price and considering how gorgeous the game is and the time it was made in it is absolutely worth the purchase. I will say though if any future games come to PC from this series I really hope they branch the story out and tell something much bigger and at the same time flesh out the combat a lot more because I have to say after a while it really got repetative and the aim-assist/aim locking often interfered with ranged weaponry aim something that annoyed me, flesh out the progression to be more meaningful and the have good realistic and reasonable customisation and that game would be a 10/10 from me provided it didn't do anything worse and only did better.

overall, buy it, its fun and a nice small time killer I can see myself going back to it eventually.

Upon reading some of the negative reviews here one thing is clear to me; People dont understand the game or Darksiders.

Crucible for example is a long time fan favourite and always has been and while the mechanics of the game didn't make it as good as DS2 and deaths tool kit it is most certainly still good and fun for those of us who actually like the wave modes.

Now for keepers of the void; This DLCs adds some flavour to the game and reminds us all what the old DS1 puzzles used to be like and is a very clear throwback to that. Though still not as complex they are definitely a refreshing sight. If you like puzzles and a couple of boss fights then this DLC is for you.

This honestly has one of the best boss fights in the game as well, the last boss of course. I wont spoil it but lets just say its anything but dull. It was a really enjoyable experience and felt more like DS2 and DS3 for that specific boss and how it interacts.

If you're running NG+ Armageddon, the mobs with the oblivion drops will spawn here. So you will have plenty to get. Like the main game, lurcher gains seem to be tied to hollow acquisition/early areas - mid game areas to late game areas so the 75 ish lurcher crystals - 150 you will get from the flame hollow wing and so forth. Increasing the further you get.

Overall this DLC while doesn't really have a story has a unique enviroment with a bunch of fun puzzles and boss fights that can keep you guessing. Its worth purchase in my book.

I will grant one thing though, it is far too short. Though it depends on when they started working on it because if they had too short a time to develop the content its understandable which would explain why its so short. In the future THQ and Gunfire should do a lot more pre- planning if that is the case and next true darksiders game needs to be much longer as well as their DLC.

Now I should also point out a few things all the negative people here;

1) This DLC is clearly for the core fans. As In the people who sat there for hours and hours and didnt give up solving the puzzles and were willing to do it again and again on all playthroughs without giving up.
2) If you wanted story you have to wait. They are doing other things outside of the Core games for that i.e Strifes "moba" game (I am sure we'll get a real strife game like 1 2 and 3 but we'll have to wait.
3) You really need to stop being so bitter and appreciate the game for what it is.

And for gods sake stop piping on about "tHeY sToLe fRoM dArK sOuLs" you know the mechanics that are in dark souls were already in other games prior to the games existence right? Dark souls only popularised them. People really need to stop being so stupid and frankly what they did for this game added a layer of difficulty that I am now starting to really appreciate on the armageddon levels. If you dont like it or you're just spite full then go play something else, the community doesn't need you dragging everyone else down with you. Its beyond childish. Its like you're still throwing a tantrum a year after someone accidentally knocked some ice cream out of your hand.

Oh and no Fury isn't written poorly, you're just bitter. She actually has character development throughout the base game something that most games these days NEVER do well. We should at least appreciate that and in fact shes written with the bluntness of her aspect in mind "fury".

Summary

Disclaimer: I have not played with the multiplayer yet. This is a solo experience review.

I was initially hesitant to buy this game with some of the critical views of the game surrounding the whole "if spire dies" or "if x leader dies" you fail the entire game not just the battle and so fourth but when I realised that there was a custom difficulty setting that you can mess with for your own amusement and ability to beat back everything with sheer overpowered nonsense It was an immediate sell for me. I greatly appreciate games that give the player a crap ton of agency allowing you the freedom to engage in the game and the universe at your own whim that said there is something to be said about narrative driven games as a whole, while a great many games are great with the difficulty being the vision of the developer, to give the player that much power as a "if you prefer" kind of option instead of just saying "hey we made this, play it if its too hard then tough" is a great move on the part of Tindalos Interactive something that was definitely lacking with the previous game. That all said, if you want a challenge use the static difficulties however you can in essence "create a challenge" with the custom difficulty settings as well! I've only completed the imperial campaign so far and I am looking forward to diving into the other 3.

and Please Remember the story is a big "what if scenario" for all 4 campaigns; Imperials, Necrons, Tyranids & of course Chaos! (note that Chaos is a DLC campaign), none of this is "cannon" so please if you're a lore nerd just enjoy it for what it is, they didn't really violate the lore or anything really they just moved a couple of things around post cadia.

And contrary to what people in this review section are saying, no the UI is not horrible or bad, its actually quite easy to get used to, its definitely different from the first game but its fine the way it is, honestly? The people complaining about it are just lazy and dont want to take the time adapt. Want for nothing. Don't agree? Sure its not perfect well it could definitely be better but the UI is definitely not worth NOT buying the game over thats just silly I can think of much much much worse UIs. If you dont agree that you want for nothing then prove me wrong and give it another go without giving up in the first hour or two its really not that difficult nor is it that clunky, you can use fleet wide stances or choose ships individually and use their things just go into a random bunch of battles and check things out properly instead of auto-resolving your way to the next mission.

Now for the pros and cons:

Pros:
- Immersion - Fantastically beautiful game, very true to the universe, as I've come to expect from 40k games the detail is outstanding.

- Narrative - exceedingly well done, not entirely perfect but far better than most games these days.

- Great Price for so much content and with this level of quality

- MOAAARRR FLEETS, you can take so many damned ships into one battle and its glorious; side note: Mechanicus fleets are extremely fun because they're so over powered.

- Pick from more than just one chapter for your Astartes fleet! (Blood Angels, Imperial Fists, Dark Angels, Ultrasmurfs they're all there) - though this does have a con so see below.

- Performance is wonderfully good I can play on maximum settings in its full glory on a 4 year old rig. The levels of polish are well beyond what you'd expect. This does have a con as well but its a bit of a nit pick see below.

- No Microtransactions. I shouldn't have to put this as a Pro but in the times we live its its good to know games can exist with out them and still do incredibly well. Great job for NOT being slimy Tindalos, earned my respect for not being sleeze balls like every other dev team out there right now.

Cons:
- Though you can pick from whatever chapter you want for Astartes fleets, they dont really have any impact there isn't anything unique about them apart from heraldry and colour scheme sadly. If they ever do another battlefleet game this should be on the "to do list" for them.

- Performance while great is a bit weird depending on where you are on the map, sometimes its extremely smooth but then later when you have opened up most of the map the game starts to slow down and lock up in certain areas and can even stop responding so do make sure to save your game after EVERY engagement. A quick fix I've noticed has been to load a prior save to rid you of this issue, it seems to smooth things out quite nicely.

- The "if X leader is killed" is kinda unnessesary, while I get it - its to make you take the game a bit more seriously and add a level of depth of difficulty it honestly detracts from the experience which is why I ended up using the custom difficulty settings.

- Urgency meter. Yeah okay so this is another thing that irks me really yet I understand why its a thing and why it works well with the game I just find it to be frustrating it doesn't let you sit back and enjoy things you kinda have to rush everything when this starts raising another feature that wasn't really needed. Again another reason why I used the custom difficulty settings to turn it off.

- Auto-resolve, good feature but a bit odd and tends to always be heavily focused on your admiral ship taking a pummeling could use some work.

Conclusion:
The game is well worth the purchase whether you be a 40k fan or not and its a great strategy game that frankly deserves more praise that it gets! Passing this game up is heresy by the way. We need more! an Aldaeri Campaign could be interesting as well especially with the whole Ynnead thing going on.

You like sci-fi?
You like Strategy games?
You like Gritty, crusading like narratives of vengeance and dominance?
You wanna smash your fleet against anything and everything in the way?
Want a game without MXTs?
Want to play something other than the imperium with a story?
Want to play AS the Imperium?
You like wonderfully crafted visual asthetics?
Like huge battles and clustering messes of fights for a laugh?

if you even are covered by one of those things;

Then buy it.

I held off reviewing this game due to my initial dislike but found myself pleasently suprised.

- Good story and well written - Some subtle things in the game you wont notice till you think about it or play through it again. Requires you to think a bit after playing it instead of just bandwagoning.
- Similarities in certain mechanics do not equate too "ohmergard its derrkkk soooools".
- It's not dark souls. Sorry hatetrain it's just not, spewing that garbage serves nobody.
- Dodge counter attack is satisfying. Dodging however can be...problematic on higher difficulties.
- Character progression is simple and not overly frustrating.
- Exploration is good and enjoyable (and worth it).
- Puzzles are "ok" they aren't DS1/DS2 good but they're good enough to be fun. Their interactions with the hollows make them stand out and its what makes them fun enough to just barely live up too the original puzzles, that said being built around the hollows themselves is why they might not be AS fun as the previous games.
- Boss fights are "ok" could be better but are fairly easy, less so on harder difficulties. Dodge mechanics hold them back a bit.

Recommendation:
-Buy it if you like darksiders.
-Buy it if you like a challenge.

For the full experience play on balanced difficulty or higher, for just the story and some mindless fun and chill gameplay - Play the lowest difficulty as the difference in difficulty between story and balanced alone is...well amusing to say the least.
And for god sake, enjoy it for what it is! not what you think it should be! This game is one of the few good games to come out of the industry in the last couple of years that isn't half finished or poorly designed overall and is not trying to rip you off by making you pay extra..its just purely a game not a casino! For once I think we should appreciate that.

After just a few hours in I actually adore this game. It has its flaws but its a wonderfully crafted time sink and if your a 40k fan its even better. So far the story is interesting as well which is good there have been so many badly done stories in 40k games wise that you'd think the games industry is trying to make you join chaos.

As it has its flaws however they are not so unbearable that I would not reccomend this game. Despite the over zealous ARPG fans who want diablo 2 in space and have unreasonably high expectations from a AA (not AAA) developer as well as a game that has only just been released from early access, this game does a wonderful job of pulling you into the universe and gettin your immersed in it (not sure you'd want to though seriously 40k is a horrible place...really) but it also provides a different dynamic too the typical "oh let me go really really really fast" ARPGs.

I should also point out what ARPG actually stands for and NO it does not stand for "running around stupidly fast firing magical beams in circles because your a wizard" It actually stands for "Action Role Playing Game" which this game covers all bases on. Yes "diablo" set the standard for a certain variety of ARPGs but not for them all. Some people like a slower experience and with that, martyr provides and honestly as a 40k fan...it wouldn't be a 40k game if you could move around at insane speeds all the time just wouldn't work lore wise.

Visually the game is stunning as well, the detail they put into the architecture of the levels and ships and locations is impressive much better than some..........*cough* Relic *cough*. Musically id say they did "ok" I wouldn't say its perfect but then its difficult to get it right sometimes musically as not everyone can like the same thing.

The Lighting is wonderful and really does set the tone for the game and the voice acting compliments this however there are times specifically a rather annoying astartes who sounds more like a thug than an actual astartes...

The visual communication between characters is also..."ok" I would hope eventually though that they do fully animated dialogue instead of what can only be described as "gifs" for communication visually.

There are also some balance issues and the grind is quite real but most of the time thats what ARPGs are all about. (Cannot speak for multiplayer and/or coop yet). There are "some" perferomance issues, stuttering occasionally things like that which can be fixed easily over time by the developers and while in many cases the combat can feel "delayed" at times it is generally smooth however the delay seems to be caused by animations i.e weapon swaping not being fully responsive as they should be, something I hope they fix in a later patch.

I also think people misunderstand the coining of term "open world sandbox" because people seem to be attributing that to level design when in fact it was refering to the star map where you can litterally go whereever you want, its not gated, it has level requirements by default but you can still attempt those missions regardless. How you actually play the game really is up to you outside of the story. I.e you do not need to go too one planet first too unlock another etc the only things that are locked in that way are "story" based missions.

Does this game need work? Yes
Is it a bad game? No
Is it worth buying? Yes (if it was £40+ I would say not at the moment)
Is it 40k? Yep
is it fun? Yep
Is the combat satisfying? Yes
Do you remcomend buying it? hmm let me say it like this;

....
....
....
....

BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD
SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE
LET THE GALAXY BURRRRNNNN!

*Cough*

Thats a YES.
