This game is so, so good and has introduced me to the open-world survival genre, and I am grateful for that. Everything about this game is gorgeous, from the story to the assets to the music. The sound design is INCREDIBLE. It gets me so wonderfully invested in the game and makes it all feel so real. The opening scene with sound design alone was enough to get me just absolutely engaged with this game. The story was quite engaging and the sense of fear that is instilled by exploring new areas and finding new monsters is so genuine and wonderful in the best way.

(The following complaint below involves end-game spoilers, you have been warned!)

The biggest con to me is that the prawn suit is ridiculously buggy when used on land. Every time I get out of the suit on land, ESPECIALLY in the alien containment facility, the PC would remain in the sitting position. The prawn suit gets stuck randomly on the floor and I would have to use the grappling hook to drag myself into walking again. But the most egregious bug was when my suit got stuck and I reloaded my last save (I had been saving after every few minutes because of this glitch) and I fell through the floor to the point that I re-looped the map and landed back in the lava zone, died, and ended up in the life pod again, leaving me to have to figure out a way to get back to the end of the game in only my seamoth. Needless to say, I did not have a good time in that instance.

HOWEVER, I think that the fact that I still overwhelmingly recommend this game after my near-game-breaking-bug experience speaks to just how good this game is. It would have been frustrating if I had to redo everything in the game to get back to the end, but I still would have been happy to. Honestly, the only thing that would make this game better would be multiplayer compatibility. I know that the dev team has no plans to make it multiplayer, though.

TL;DR: A great story, beautiful visuals, and a gorgeous sound design that makes for a great experience with good replayability for the adventure alone.
