Death's Gambit is currently one of my favorite games.
You could call it a Dark Souls rip off, but I prefer to think it's a genre other people should be allowed to use just as much.

Starting off as weak as you seems to be looked at negatively. In my opinion, it adds to the challenge.
You shouldn't buy this game if you don't like a bit of difficulty.

You figure out how the enemies and bosses work as you fight them more and more (and die to them several times)
until you eventually manage to dodge most if not all of their attacks successfully.

I enjoy each and every one of these bosses, and intend to beat most of them (hopefully all of them) on Heroic Mode.
I also enjoy starting new games and combining weapons and auras to try and find what works well, and even after nearly 50 hours played there's still a bunch of things I want to try out.

I get the most enjoyment out of the gameplay, really.
The Game+ feature is also great, you get to start over with what you already have, at a higher difficulty.
You could say the story gets dull after a while, but if you're in it for the challenge, the story hardly matters and can be skipped through pretty easily.

Thalamus has to be the greatest boss fight in this game, in my opinion. He's just awesome, the music is awesome, the voice is great. It's mostly great because its so much different. Survive, rather than fight. It's not a difficult fight at all. I just wished there was a Heroic version of Thalamus too somehow.

People complain about bugs, but I haven't encountered anything gamebreaking yet.
Yeah, you can kill the NPCs, you trade the buying and learning options to instead receive an item (sometimes a pretty powerful one) like the Skeleton Key (arguably this might be game breaking, I haven't picked it up myself as I don't feel the need for it)

I don't usually write reviews, but I thought I'd gives this game one anyway.
