Retroarch shaders offer the best way to emulate old screens, full stop. Re-shade is good, but nothing can beat CRT royale, and I haven't found a good way to get these shaders anywhere else. Watching 80's and 90's anime with a CRT shader is a game changer. Same with older video games. The shaders alone make it worth getting over Retroarch's moderate learning curve.

Steam cloud saves seems nice too, though I haven't messed with it yet. Using steam cloud to potentially synchronize save files for a bunch of old games could be really neat. I still use standalone emulators for anything beyond Dreamcast, but it's nice to have all the older games under one roof.
