Another new Metroidbrainia, so gated exploration but you don’t get items but acquire knowledge to progress. Very charming little game where you play a character with so much fall damage he doesn’t survive their own jump height. A game which keeps throwing curveballs, which is really my thing. Decided to do some speedrun challenges to get the 100% achievements as well. Very fun one!

Wonderful simple looking indiegame. It’s a mix of Monkey Ball, Kuru Kururin and Flappy Bird where you flap and bounce with a little worm looking spaceship through racecourse like levels. However on your way there’s different colored walls which you can only pass thru if you’re the right color, white is neutral fall state, red is when you flap to boost yourself somewhere and green is a spinning move which propels you forward. It gets crazy tough but rewarding in the end.

It's a weird game but I see why it got its fans. It's a 3d colecthaton platformer, with point & click adventure elements and 3d zelda style combat. And above all it got a healthy dose of humor and charm.
Because it mixes up the gameplay it can make it sometimes feel janky because of the lack of polish, but at least it stays fresh. Wouldn't want to have missed this experience!

This DLC of Super Bernie World (which I didnt play) is a relatively simple Mario Bros 1 clone with some features missing from that game. Feels a bit of a mix of SMB1 and Super Mario Land 1 where the jumping mechanics and hitboxes are often a bit strange and the variety of content a bit lacking. However I only played until the first credits (4 worlds) and there's bonus levels (with more enemy types) and secret levels to be found, so maybe there's more to be found.

Where this game gets its charm is the fully voiced dialog, the cute characters and fun Japanese inspired visuals. Also the no lives system is very forgiving, you can just start over and over until you beat the level which is good.

If you just want a cute Super Mario Bros 1 clone and can't be bothered by slightly different physics, give it a go!

What I expected: an escape room style puzzle game with plants and a dash of occult horror.

What I got: a tame narrative focussed game where you continually have identify plants and locations by reading texts and solving really simple puzzles.

It was an ok relaxing 5 hours. Also you can pet a cat. Won’t go for the 100% because I need to replay the whole game for it. Did identify all plants though!

The worthy Quake 1 sequel we never got. This is not just a boomer. shooter but what I call an exploration FPS, very few games are like it and I love the genre. Great looking and playing game. Level design is very diverse in style and gameplay. It’s best in class and has beautiful brushwork. Love the movement additions for fun secret hunting and sequence breaking and the alternative quicksave system gave some extra tension. Chef’s kiss.

It’s really more of the same as the first game but with some nice stuff happening outside of the game which is neat. Also juggling conversations is new. I really like this experience of early 2000s relationship counseling and smooth talking.

A very charming handdrawn point and click adventure about a frog which saves the animals from their curse of having a brain.

Normally not a fan of the genre but this one was never obtuse like others and it also has some very simple object pushing puzzles to spice it up a bit. Overal very cute, would recommend as a starter point & click.

Lot of people compared this game with ‘a short hike’ but man it likes to talk. It’s more like a charming open world fetch quest game with quite fun movement and a lot of reading (not too interesting) conversations. At times it’s funny and at times it’s touching. I had fun with it but unfortunately it is far from the highs ‘a short hike’ gave me.

All in all a fine game which my kids really loved to watch when I played.

Fun little puzzler playing with perspective in MC Esher like environments. Not too much different from the original, but now you control two characters sometimes.

It’s unfortunate that it’s a bit too easy for my liking, I fully expected harder post credit content, but it was absent. I just wanted more and think harder!
