This game restored my faith in PCVR. Beautiful graphics that never dip from 144 fps with a 3080 on high settings, great voice acting, the physics engine is on point, writing is better-than-serviceable, I could go on. I slept on the first Red Matter but saw enough Alyx comparisons in the reviews that I had to check it out and it absolutely lives up to it. The PCVR scene needs more high quality games like this and this is an absolute steal at $29.99.

If you a) complain about a lack of decent new VR titles while b) sleeping on this game then you c) are probably are wearing clown make-up and large red shoes with big floppy yellow laces.

Amazing work Vertical Robot, I'll buy everything you ever make.

I'm angry that this game has existed for almost a year and I just now found it. Excellent addition to any roguelite fan's library but as an added bonus, anyone that liked LISA's combat system will feel right at home here. This is the same idea to the 10th power. Game is equal parts goofy and disturbing which is a combo I can get behind. I've only scratched the surface of this game and I'm already in love.

edit: it took me a little extra time to realize but this is same dev that made Perfect Vermin too, which explains a lot and is also very awesome.

Yes. God yes. All of it. The best 19.99 you can spend on a VR game right now, no question. Wave shooters might not be everyone's bag but when it's as well done as this game (and you can create some genuinely absurd weapons), you're just simply missing out if you sleep on it. The weapon building aspect of this game is really well done and the UI works beautifully. This was the shot of magic my VR library currently needed.

Incredibly cool but hard to recommend for purchase to anyone that enjoys seeing games reach an actual 1.0 release. This game is deader than disco but if there was a neutral option, I'd use it since the price of admission is pretty decent considering what you're getting. Just sad that there seems not to have been any updates since its release 2 years ago but it's still worth $9.99 to someone out there in its current state.

edit: dev reached out re: my review and it was very helpful and kind and explanatory, so I'll flip this to positive and wait for the next update. Seriously, this game is great.

This game is an absolute gift if you love VR roguelites. While the art and music complement each other beautifully, the real star of the show is the physics engine. Nearly everything can be picked up or pushed with no clipping which is always a nice bonus in a VR game but the bullet impacts on the enemy robots also benefit greatly from this.

There's a decent set of in-game options which is always nice for all of us that dislike snap-turning. With a 3080 + 3700x, this game hasn't dipped below 144 hz once on my Index and is gorgeous in its own way. The microchip upgrade/perk system is simple and slick and is a nice touch as well.

Sweet Surrender is pretty much a requirement for VR action game fans.

edit: the 'point down to reload' mechanic is ok but it would be great if manual 'classic' reload became an option at some point down the road. The game is fast paced but not so much that the arcade-ish point-down-to-reload should be the only way to do it. Small gripe though, great game all around.

This is a genuinely incredible VR art application that is fascinating even for people that are terrible visual artists such as myself. The presentation is top shelf and Vermillion allows you to absolutely melt inside the headset and even my ugly oil paintings were a total blast to make.

The game also has the ability to show your browser in a reposition-able and resizable window (so you can paint alongside Bob Ross in real time, which is as dreamy as it sounds) or you can overlay the browser display onto the canvas itself and effectively trace anything you'd want to paint. The UI is intuitive and it's easy to un-mix the paint colors and also easy to save new palette templates if you like something you've created there.

I am wildly impressed by this, I mean you even see the bubbles in the paint on your first pass on the canvas until you smooth them out, it's truly hypnotic. This is a very different kind of 'cool' from Tilt Brush, it's very grounded and hyper-realistic but that's what makes it click so hard. Much respect to the developer for putting this together.

Easily one of the slickest and coolest VR games I've played. I'd not played anything else quite like it in VR yet but it pulls off multiple great ideas and still gets major updates over a year after release. If you like turn-based combat done in a way that lends itself very well to a 3D playspace, this game is a must. I'm not even all that crazy about JRPGs but this one still drew me in.

Do you remember being a kid and playing OG 8-bit Legend of Zelda and wandering around the Lost Woods? It felt different from the rest of the game but there was something very *wrong* with that part of the map. Even as a super young kid, I could feel the game telling me that I was exploring at my own risk and my next turn would probably be my last. The game told my juvenile brain that this is a place where bad things happen so why was I still here?

Elden Ring takes this concept and turns out a 200 hour masterpiece where the overmatched adventurer explores and evolves into an all-slaughtering death machine. I honestly never thought that Bloodborne could ever be topped but Elden Ring makes it look easy.

It's not a perfect game and the general inventory management is still pretty clumsy (unless you find a filter that always works for you) but the atmosphere and sense of exploration in the game IS perfect. Knowing that you can easily be quickly killed if you're not careful, but if you use your head and push on, you will probably be ok is a glorious combo.

This game scratches an itch that no other game ever has and From's other games can't match the scale and the enhanced majesty of having each world being linked within the same overworld (instead of warping to different levels like in Bloodborne + DSes). It's a small change all things considered but it brings the whole package to the next level so hard you could chip a tooth on it.

Miyazaki weaponized the concept of exploration and deserves all the money ever for pulling off an incredible balance that draws a clear line between difficulty and frustration.

A really solid VR RTS that goes light on the story but offers some cool tweaks on the RTS formula. Some levels allow control of enemy pathing which works really well in VR and I like the direct nature of the game and how it doesn't get lost in 5th Tier upgrades with messy sub-types and unnecessary element effects.

You've got Machine Gun Turrets, Flamethrowers, Electric turrets, Rockets, and a kickass Laser (aka all the hits) and I probably could have cut my playtime in half if I invested in a fully upgraded Flamethrower earlier. That thing is an absolute monster. The levels are 8-10 minutes long which feels just about right too.

When I first bought this I wasn't planning on dropping 15 hours into it but it became one of my favorites from last year. An easy recommendation if you don't need mind melting graphics with your VR. This game would print $$ on the Quest store.

If I had known this game was going to be this good, I wouldn't have waited five years to play it. TftB made me nostalgic for the peak of Telltale's games and this one just might be the best. Playing this reminded me of the greatness of that early to mid 2010s run of the Same & Max games and The Wolf Among Us but TftB beats all of these classics on its own.

It does walk the line between energetic visual novel and adventure game but the writing is so great I never really noticed the genre. No cliffhangers, no post credits scene, just a big thick ass pile of resolution and stuck landings. Plus that end credits song is on point. First Aid Kit - My Silver Lining.

An instant classic and I'll be back for a second playthrough, there seems to be a depth here that was missing in pretty much everything Telltale published after Walking Dead S2 and after.
