As someone who has replayed these games multiple times through the years, this is a welcome update to a beautiful classic. The graphics update has been great so far, the music is crisp and beautiful.

The stories are phenomenal, I know most people love 2 more than 1, but I probably replayed the first one 3 or 4 times before I had the pleasure of playing 2 so it hits just a little different.

The joy and excitement of being a kid and finding another character to recruit was incomparable (mind you, this was mostly before the internet was super available all the time, and gamefaqs was just getting going).

Cannot recommend these games enough, and it would be amazing if this (hopeful) success encourages them to redo the rest of the series.

You're mostly getting Casey as a character. There's a couple enemy reskins, some new (mini)bosses, and the new level aesthetic is a nice change of pace. New artifacts are a nice new thing to aim for, seeing new portals is cool. Only the host needing the DLC for the new zone is nice, also.

For a measly few bucks, it's pretty good.

A pleasant balance of allowing you to pick the difficulty you want, and offering a fair amount of successful build diversity. It's consistent enough that you can regularly beat the game, or you can choose a hefty challenge and get your teeth kicked in. So far, there's been regular-ish updates, and the new DLC added brings a bit of freshness as well. Great with buddies, though with all of the effects the screen can get a little cluttered.

Came for the thicc shortstack furries, stayed for the based dank gameplay. Movement is hella fun (lookin' at you, Bandit), and combat is smooth. Learning that Parry exists opened a whole new world to combat, and the gear, while at first glance seems limited, the fact that you can change weapons to be based on other stats is very nice.

There was a little bit of a starting grind, cuz I started playing on Steam Deck and the controls don't *really* support controller, though it was playable. The inability to bind like, a healing pot to a key easily was rough. Switched to KBM on the desktop, and all is right with the world.

Looking forward to doing the multiplayer, can't wait to see what degen creations other people come up with.

So far, it's everything that I loved about the first game but with new and intriguing changes. Looking forward very much to fully exploring it as EA and full release progress.

Get some friends together and save the world from being a desert, and turn it in to a flourishing wonderland of plants and pets. 10/10, would die to wind damage while climbing a wall again.

Such a good game. Fun spirit, great exploration (traversal was always fun, and the animations are so well done for every different thing you do), and the combat.... Ooooo, the combat. So much more than your standard "select attack, watch animation".

Timing is everything, and perfecting it is oh-so-satisfying. When you land that perfect hit, reflect your 30th Moonerang, block that crucial attack or you would have gone down... The game flat out lies when it says you don't need to learn to do the timing, unless you're using the relics to ease up on the difficulty a little. Which, I loved. Maybe one night you're playing, and you just wanna have fun without worrying, click them on for a while and pop them back off later. Or, in one particularly... Questionable portion of the game... You'll know. -_-

While it wasn't as long as some of the JRPG's of yore, I think the game length was perfect for it's story. There's a few tidbits you'll notice if you know the studio's other game, which were nice. I think if they continue making games in the same "universe" and spice in some more crossover info, that'd be really neat.

Being a completionist can add a fair bit of time, especially without looking up a guide for some of the stuff, cuz... I definitely never would have found some stuff without it the first time through.

All in all, if you want a fun, mostly laid back game with a few twists and turns, and some potentially thrilling combat if you're into it, 1000% would pick this up.

Lovely balance between like, PoE and Diablo 3. Love the flexibility of the skills all having their own tree. I do wish you could replace Left Click with something else (unless I'm just bad and missing it), but I dig it.

Such a fun game, always better with friends. So many ways to die. So... So many.
