This game is an absolute heartbreak. Coming at the heels of Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries, one of the greatest Battletech games ever made, it was an automatic pre-order. Imagine my horror when instead of the deep, roll-your-own-experience open world of mercenaries, I was thrust into a linear campaign with no player agency over the experience I was subjected to. It's not that the story was bad, they just WOULD. NOT. STOP. TALKING!! I failed a mission for running after a stray mech after the "mission boundaries" shifted after completing an objective. I wiped on another mission over and over after not realizing I would be facing infinite waves until I "scanned" an object I was not told to scan anywhere in the mission.

Don't bother with this one, it is unsalvageable.

Bought this game to play coop with a friend but after an hour of monkeying around, we were unable to connect to each other. Uninstall.

An amazing visual spectacle the likes of which I've never seen before. A solid co-op cover shooter with a decent story. Not a fan of the endgame, but the campaign was awesome!

I've been waiting over twenty years for this game to be made, and it does not disappoint! An excellent blend of meeting colossal expectations and bringing the franchise into the future. I took my time on the first playthrough and finished the campaign in 117 hours. Looking foward to starting another with a different set of mercs on a harder difficulty. It is a little rough around the edges, at least as of version 1.03, but I can't wait to see what Haemimont does with it next.

After 48 hours, I finally wrapped up all the DLC and put this game to bed. I was definitely done playing before it was over, but that was after doing both DLCs before travelling to the final planet and I very much wanted to see how it ended so I slogged through it. I enjoyed the 70s-style post script talking about how all of your decisions played out after the game.

This game definitely wants to be Bioshock but can't shake off the New Vegas. It very much felt like a game I had played before. The combat was competent but your companions run out and die in every fight, like Mass Effect 1. Companion abilities are strong but you are required to watch a single cinematic with no variation every time you use them. The itemization was pretty clumsy and only a small fraction of the many, many objects I was collecting were useful to me. Inventory management was a real chore.

It was the story that kept me going, and I enjoyed some of the hard decision making that it required. My conversation with the Adjutant on Byzantium, where I was expected to slaughter the colony I just saved and upon refusing had to kill everyone in the building, was unexpectedly interesting. Usually that path is reserved for people acting immorally, but in this case it was the only acceptable course of action. Also, Parvati is one of my favorite companions of all time, and she was almost always in my party.

I don't think I could go back and do another playthrough, given the campaign length and the amount of talking, but I would be curious to see how things played out with a totally different build and differentl story choices.

I have finally burned out on this game after over 400 hours consisting of two campaign playthroughs and two career mode runs. Truly one of the greats of modern turn-based tactics. I am glad to have backed the kickstarter.

This game is not without it's warts. The UI is pretty rough and the game does not run very well for what it is doing either. The difficulty is all over the place, with lots of frustrating spikes that result in lots of reloading saves.

In the end, the fun far outweighs the issues. I would not play the game without all the DLC as it all improves it considerably. I hope they make a sequel!

It will be hard to go back to Slay the Spire after spending time in the Griftlands. Love the negotiations with the separate decks. Would also love to see some new playable characters.

There is a framework for a great game in here. I can't wait for them to patch it in.
