It's classy, it's beautiful, it's something that every Mafia fan could hope for. Or is it? I've been pondering this question when I played this cinematic triumph from beginning to the credits and while everything is covered it still misses that tiny detail what made original Mafia so special - and yet again I could state that this remake trusts on its own values and doesn't stick in 20 years old formula.

Speaking of formula, one big difference between the games is a racing mission, that really reflects the distance between the games in a bigger picture as well. In this Definitive Edition it was many times more arcade - still challenging, but much more forgiving. If you made f.ex. a tiny mistake and hit the wall no harm done and back the track but in original Mafia the axle between the tire and trunk would bend causing wobbling tire and ruining the race. More laughable thing in the game was that if your car turns over you can use your Baron von Munchausen powers and magically flip the vehicle on its right side. In original of course this led to brutal death for poor Tommy being crushed between the track and the seat.

So I do say that the Definitive Edition is made much more user friendly, also the checkpoints are pretty frequent and losing the cops is much simpler and even less enjoyable. However this comes with the pros as well - fighting system isn't perfect, but still a lot better than random change of fists in the first one, also many of the unnecessary dull parts have been cut like planning of the bank robbery for in the remake it is much more smoother and the whole episode can be done swifter than the loong travel with the Paulie in the original. Shame that they erased Yellow Pete. Not to mention the Free Ride Extreme mode. They really did not hesitate to use the scissors for dozens of miles of driving has been completely erased, replaced by cutscenes, saving passive playtime for some, but taking away fun exploring time from others. Many cases when I sighted something missing I felt controversial - I did not like it always, but occasionally I understood the changes. I never were mad, but more like baffled. What I can't forgive that I never heard Django Reinhardt's 'Belleville' from the radio though.

And what about the tiny detail, which I mentioned in the beginning? How to define that? Is it the nostalgia? Perhaps, but I believe it is more in how they changed the story's philosophy. What made Mafia so unforgettable masterpiece was the story of doing right and wrong, being a good or bad person, is the love and friendship worth ♥♥♥♥? Changes in script has ripped a hole into the game's soul, but has been replaced with something that is as worthy as the matter which is now gone. There is no knots and loose ends are shut.

I'd like to image original Mafia as elder Don seeing his legacy being turned more glamorous than ever before, but missing the respect and honor which were very fond to him. However, this young gogetter Remake sees that all of it is still in there, respecting the legacy, but making the details into its own image. This is Mafia of the third decade standing on its own feet and the original 2002 one remains still one of the best games ever done! If I were you I'd play both of them through and then decide.

My honest nominee for Outstanding Story-Rich Game Award!

Yes, might be underrated opinion, but the things Harvester Games has produced in the past years deserve more recognition!

The grande debut of Remedy. The time before Max Paynes, Alan Wakes, Quantum Break and Control. It is not just a list of games by same company - it is a whole universe!

Surprisingly good! Almost two decades old Sudeki is not the game I'd have first thought of if somebody asked me what you are you gonna play on this fall. For reason or another I gave it a try-out after blindly scrolling my library and this try-out became 22 hour long session!

As an old school RPG character progress is very generic where you gain experience with which you gain new abilities, spells and boost your attributes. However when it comes to fighting system I have rarely seen games having this smooth real time combat where you are able to switch different characters whenever you like. Combat is not only fun but also technically brave for melee characters playstyle is normal third person hack and slash the ranged characters view changes into first person which acts just like any FPS. To prevent real time combat getting too hectic you can step into time slowing quick menu to think you next move or activate a special or spirit strike. When you control one character AI handles the rest and battles are time to time rough but never frustrating and when you learn to deal with switching between characters it goes smooth enough to be called sea-salted butter and you begin to see that the outcome is about more of your skill than just smashing buttons quickly. I was wondering why devs decided to pass the great opportunity of co-op feat.

Sudeki's story is pretty straight-forward but holds well enough the whole game. The main protagonist Tal is young rookie soldier whose kingdom is assaulted by familiar force and despite of the game being cute and colorful it is also cruel and bloody. You are soon accompanied with Ailish, Buki and Elco. Sometimes the team splits-up and regroup again. When I think about pros of the game I'd pick characters in the first hand for each of them does not only differ in battles but also outside of them for they got their unique special abilities to solve puzzles and very soon you face puzzles where more than one need to participate to proceed. While characters are caricatures it is wonderful to see how different personalities from different wealth and cultural backgrounds bond and befriend throughout the story and as an avid DnD player I felt right at home. Although I would have liked to see the character relations to be taken into another level for some of the side stories are left loose - Tal's broken family issues or Buki's heritage as for example. The ending does not get the clean papers either - not even nearly.

So Sudeki is far from being a game of the year type of game when being left unpolished and even partly wasting its potential especially in the storyline where other then exclusive XBOX -title Fable succeeded. It is not a wide big open world either, but is more closer to some dungeon crawler that although was a standard back in the day. However its simple yet rewarding gameplay is something which none can overlook. For me the primary thing between good and bad game is the feeling - do I feel forced to play it til' the end after certain point and in Sudeki this almost a full day long time used felt just wholesome.

The PC- port is also a success imo. By using mouse+keyboard I never had any problems, but only one single crash, although I have heard that some have had fatal problems with camera angles but I never had any of those either. The game looks very good on 1440p and 144Hz frequency and overally it still feels quite fresh despite of the age. It was already a minor miracle that I picked the game let alone trying it out but I am pleased and without wearing any glasses or another piece of nostalgia I can recommend the game inside out!

For someone who were like 8-13 years old in 2015, was a PewDiePie fan and liked platformers this might be a great deal! However I am way over the age and out of PewDiePie community circle so it leaves me just a platformer, which aint an absolute disaster for gameplay works and you can even buy some power-ups to enhance your characters which may grab you interest for 2 hours in most so it might be worthy to pick this in sale and only in sale.

Stay awesome.

First of all -- I do not agree with the hatred this game gathers. Now to the story and actual review.

When I was on my early teens I picked a game from sale basket among few others. The game casket read as "Freelancer". Yeap you might already know where I am going here. Freelancer is the game which was groundbreaking in every layer when it came out and even when it's been two decades people still remember and refer it in almost every single time when some new action-spaceflight sim has been released.

So did I got the successor for the legendary game? No, but I got Chorus!! The game is just incredible cinematic piece, with great protagonist Nara who evolves throughout the story as a pilot but also as a character. You also meet numerous side characters among companion Forsa who fights with you throughout the game. After tiny linear tutorial the current system is freely to be explored and there is numerous side quests, which are not achieved on space stations but by exploring the environment. Making money as merchant or miner is not an option in this, but several quality side quests compensate that in my opinion. Chorus is strictly battle based, but dogfights are always great fun! There is also many random encounters with different factions to make money, which you use to upgrade your shield defenses and weaponry. There is 3 types of weaponry and while there might not be so much variation the Chorus has another feature in its arsenal.

Nara gets access into the Rites, magical abilities to deal with enemies and further you proceed the more of them you get. Nara also collects experience with rites and weapons and this should courage you to try different tactics to deal with enemies for all bonuses are significant and by adapting and learning you are able to do much cool stuff especially in the second half of the game.

Speaking of the end game the ending was a true example how to conclude the story! The final minutes the game turned to be a bullet hell in a good way, but what did take the cake was the few last cutscenes - my skin legit went goosebumps and emotions kicked in! I had my expectations low for some games fail to give that final blow, but Chorus scored and for the good!

After 18 long hours of flying and shootings I grant that Chorus can be a little bit repetitive and there is few aspects that are left simple. The playing with magics might not be everyone's cup of tea either, especially if one waits more factual setting. However I liked it and fell in love with it!

Meet me... in Chorus.

On 11 AM 11.11.1918 the guns went silent and first World War came to its end. The war which was bloodier and more gruesome than any war before. 11-11 Memories Retold is a masterpiece and takes its player to the last two years delivering a storyline which does not take sides and handles out the subject with human and subtle manner. It kind of reminds the another WW1 game Valiant Hearts: The Great War telling about two men on the different sides of the war, destined to clash to each otheron the front and make an unusual friendship which doesn't have common language. Only thing is to find out what they seek and then go back home to their loved ones.

Main characters are Harry, a young Canadian photographer and Kurt, a middle-aged German Engineer. On each chapter you are to pick one of them to play as, but I found that it did not matter for every scenario is shown. You just can pick the order. I loved how these twos different interests are shown by how they act through the game for Kurt fixes stuff and does war engineering and Harry has a camera to take photos from points of interests, which are big part of the game and become tangled as the story develops. In midpoint also two animal companions are presented and each of them bring new features and beauty to the game. There is lot of things to collect, a lot of things to do and you surely will miss something in first playthrough unless you are gonna use some guide.

The game feels and looks very unique for its clever choices and the graphics are refreshingly pleasing, having this Vincent van Gogh(ish) painted outlook. Music has a lot of wholesome tracks and the voice talents are wonderful including Elijah Wood, Sebastian Koch and William Hope.

If I should say a thing which makes this game a masterpiece is its atmospheric storyline and constancy of finding and collecting things related to the war and also giving a history lesson at the same time. It is an emotional ride delivering multiple endings, which each will reward you somewhat, but none of them are truely that "Golden Ending". To make armistice somebody has to kneel down even if it was a nation or a person, their pride or their fury - and just like in war everyone loses in the end.

Very strange mixture of parkour and walking sim with a good storyline, mesmerizing world and astonishing soundtrack. Valley needs even more praise than it has already gotten for its features could bring out the whole franchise of games and even movies! The manipulation of life and death is really good as a concept and it is such a shame that just like Slender The Arrival this other piece by the same devs has been let to fade slowly away. So go and give this game a chance! It is a blast from the past!

Slender The Arrival is one of the scariest games I've played but this is one of the most beautiful games I've played.

Totally recommended!! Nice story, mesmerizing characters, good mixture of action, puzzles and walking sim. Multiple endings that are all rewarding in their own way. I believe that if I went more specific in telling the storyline I'd just try impossible without spoiling too much. Just buy it and experience it!
