Garbage

Doom Eternal took a while to grow on me but it ended up being one of my all time favorite shooters. It's not perfect but it's challenging fun that keeps me coming back for more.

Ancient Gods - Part One is the exact opposite. It's just boring. The maps feel slapped together and the game play is just... boring. There's no other way to say it.

So far so good...

My way too early review is that I really am enjoying this game and the story. We'll see how it plays out over the time. There are some bugs but they've only been minor ones for me so far. I have not been forced to restart the game yet after three hours of play.

While it's not without a few flaws, Horizon Zero Dawn is a very well crafted game. The story and characters are excellent. The game play is challenging and satisfying. I love that there's even a story mode if you just want to focus on the story and not the combat. It's probably too easy for most folks but it's great to see a developer supporting more casual and less skilled players.

Not everyone has 6 hours a day to spend playing games. It can suck to get excluded from amazing games because your skills aren't up to the challenge. Trust me. I know from personal experience. :)

At any rate, if you enjoy stealth combat, RPG elements and great stories, this is a excellent game for your collection.

EDIT: I just wanted to add I have had some minor frame rate issues. It honestly hasn't impacted my game at all. I've yet to have the game crash on me after almost 30 hours.

EDIT 2: I'm changing my recommendation on this game due to some major bugs. I've been working on a one minute long challenge for two days. It's the most ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up thing I've seen in 40 years of playing video games. It's pissed me off so much I refuse to play the game again. It went from being fairly fun to an absolute nightmare. Don't waste your money on this garbage unless you hate yourself and want to use it to make yourself even more miserable.

EDIT 3: I'm waffling again. There's some messed up stuff in this game but the story is really next level stuff. Ignore edit 2. I'm back on the bandwagon.

Make no mistake. This game is amazingly fun. I had 10+ great nightmare play throughs and many failed ultra nightmare attempts. The game is just so fun. If I had any knock against it, it would be that I'm not good enough at it to get through a ultra nightmare run but who cares. There was so many hours of sheer joy playing this game even if it did frustrate me sometimes. My wife was glad when I quit playing it every night. lol

UPDATE: The game is working again. Going to give it another try.

Considering this game won't even run on my computer anymore (apparently one of the updates killed it), I'd say don't waste your money on this game. I'd ask for a refund if it wasn't too late.

If you like overwhelming difficulty, awful pacing and boring game play, Borderlands is your game. It's about as much fun a typical punch in the face. Don't waste your money on this crapfest.
