This is my chillax game. No big punishments for dying (but revives and team play are encouraged). Guns are nice. Progression is not great, but it is there (most of good cosmetics are hidden behind MTX, which is poop). Game's performance is good.

The only big bug that I have encountered is bad UI resolution scaling (it is in 2K while my display is 4K)

Get it on sale and remember to have fun. THIS GAME HAS NO TRADITIONAL SINGLE-PLAYER, ONLY SOLO/COOP MODES!

Activision deserves 0 dollars for the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ they are trying to pull off here

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fullscreen launcher with forced restarts after updates + with forced install of the latest COD (e.g. wastes your disk space)
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ networking issues that do not allow you to even log in the launcher
More forced restarts when you actually start the game bypassing networking errors
To then be greeted with THE SAME networking errors in the game, forcing you to get BACK TO LAUNCHER and repeat the cycle

And these ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ have THE AUDACITY to ASK FOR 90 BUCKS FOR THIS PEACE OF ♥♥♥♥ EXPERIENCE WITH MTX? ♥♥♥♥ off

Before we get started. Yes, I know "Skill issue", "Git gud", etc.. If you enjoy this game, I am happy for you. This review is my own experience and doesn't have to represent yours.

Elden Ring is a game with really captivating open world, amazing character designs and infamous difficulty. You see, the difficulty isn't even the biggest issue if the game was fair.

The main problem for me in this game is that this game HATES your time in a really bad way. Whenever you die, it takes around ~14 seconds with fair SSD and CPU to respawn (prolonged death animation + loading), for a game where you die a lot, 14 seconds is too much. The game has 165 bosses, if you die around 15-20 times on average just during boss fights, you will waste around 12 hours just looking at death screen. This is NOT a game where you won't die. You will die. A lot. It feels like the game was designed with as many "you must die here" moment as possible. So these numbers are completely crazy and bollocks.

This wouldn't have been a problem, if the game was fair, but it isn't. Most of the enemies are hard to read (often due to their size) and many attacks are rarely obvious in terms of how to dodge/parry time. You quite often feel that the process of boss fight is just bashing against the wall. Enemies have more health (granted, you have healing potions if you will be able to use them), greater mobility, stamina than you. You can go and grind your level/weapon to make your walkthrough easier and that's what most fans would tell you, to get better gear, level up, use co-op etc.. But isn't that a waste of your time? The challenge should be fair. We are playing a video game, this is not a real life.

Exploring the game world is actually fun tho, dungeons, mysteries, hidden paths. Exploring in this game is truthfully a joyful experience and the game looks gazillion times better than any Dark Souls game then have released before. Fighting against non-boss enemies is awesome if they sometimes present a challenge.

In a true Dark Souls fashion, this game hides its story as much as possible, uses cryptic language where after watching the first cutscene, you will ask yourself "What is going on here? What is my objective?". IN MY OPINION, this is unacceptable. Having some in-depth lore is a good thing, but making your whole thing cryptic af and making the player feel "special" when they theorizing about the lore of the game is just bad. If you do not like obscure plot that you need to figure out on your own or watch 3 hour long essays, then you won't like the story of this game

So, if you are not a fan of souls-likes, then you should think twice before buying this. This game is a time sink that is too frustrating for people outside of the souls bubble.

This is one of those games that slowly build up and you get into it more and more. At first I didn't know what the hell is the point of the game and why is it supposed to be interesting, but then you start noticing well crafted puzzles, secrets, hidden mechanics that make you want to go further and further.
This game has no explicit tutorials, you just figure things out on your own, but it's done in a such nice way that you pick it up really quickly and feel great about yourself (just like you are supposed to feel when playing good video games).
Main MVPs are level design and movement. The author must have spend a lot of time on planning and building. It also has an amazing atmosphere, music and warm graphics while being less than 50 megabytes in size.

This is definitely a great game that I can recommend!

Early Access Review
A lot of bug games were released in a short amount of time, huh.

It's a fine game, unpolished one. There are no major bugs, just a lot of visual/audio feedback is missing, UI responsiveness deserves more. I mean, that's ok, early access and all. Having said that, I am happy to see that the core is there. It just needs some improvements and balancing. Especially on the balancing side. Currently the game feels overwhelming difficulty wise, you rarely experience being "overpowered" like in other survivor-like games, the drop pod gives you too little time to come to it and you are under constant pressure. This is not the experience you want to have in games like these.

Yet, it works great on Steam Deck, gameloop is there and I can't wait to see how this game would evolve. If you are considering to buy this game, get it a wee-bit later when they iron out most of the issues.

Those pricks made the soundtrack in a separate program. That should be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ illegal. Pirating has better experience than this!

Great game, captivating story with SCP elements combined with great technical implementation. Finished it twice (EGS + Steam) and loved it. I love the abilities that the game gives you and your service gun feels "enough". This game is not perfect, it has some level design issues, it's really easy to get lost + side activities can be stupidly frustrating. But those are such minor things in the grand scheme of things.

Play this game!

P.S. You might want to play this game before playing Alan Wake 2. These are in the same universe and are intertwined

I really enjoyed narrative, environment and design, but the combat is not great. Enemies are trying to flank you all the time and you only have a few tools to fight it, they constantly spawn and annoy you. The game tries hard to scare you with those spawns and it's great, but I am talking about really confusing spawns behind your back where the enemies will spawn while you are fighting.
Another thing that is really confusing is collectibles. There are too many of them for such game and they are scattered where they shouldn't be. I envy those people who will try to 100% this game.

Good game, not great combat.

Incredibly fun game. The biggest downside is that it requires friends

This game tries to be Undertale and in my mind, it fails to be it. Especially when the game, tries to be "smart" and push its ideas too hard.

This game has an interesting gameplay core with a ton of minigames, but the effects make it a big no-no for me. There is just a lot of warping, rotating and other bs that makes you go "What the ♥♥♥♥ it that". It doesn't help the player and it doesn't help the game.
Music is nice, but not nice enough to be rememberable.
Art is nice, but sometimes annoying
World movement is ok, but sometimes limiting
Dialogs can be funny, but eventually I felt annoyed

If you like Undertale and want "that kind of the game" then feel free to try, but I would not have high expectations.
