As much as I love FFXIV, I can no longer wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone. When it was new to me almost 4 years ago it was very fun, however in hindsight my experience was almost 100% carried by the story. I have been unsubbed for almost the entirety of 2025 and after thinking about it XIV has a formula for its content. Every dungeon is the same same boring hallway, the only difference being the bosses and set dressings, every xpac you get an 8 player raid with three sections four bosses each, a 24 player alliance raid with three sections four bosses each, some tribal quests for dailies, some job always gets simplified so much that a lobotomy patient coud play it no problem, healers have gotten shafted to the point of near uselessness outside of healing groupwides or rezzing dumbass dps's since evere tank has so much self heal they could clear content without a healer. Overall the entire game has grown very stale and formulated. On a personal note in my time zone to get into a raid I have to queue late at night because that is the only time that enough people are active on the servers with acceptable ping.
