This game had so much potential. For years, it provided me with so much entertainment. If I had to recommend the game, I would up until summer of 2022.

But since this is a live service game, I must review based on its current status.

I do not recommend Dead by Daylight in 2024. The game is not longer an indie cult hit. It is now a cash grab menace with zero direction in both gameplay and lore/story.

Bhvr is consistently finagling every single perk. They completely go overboard with nerfs or buffs and unnecessarily rework perks that they'd be better off passing as a new (and unnecessary) perk for the the never-ending stream of "new" and entirely low quality content/DLC.

Killer is too easy if you go against solo queue players or completely nauseating if you are going against a 3+ man SWF (Survive with Friends).

Survivor is never ever rewarding or "fun" as it is the exact opposite - you go against a Killer player who has had his/her jaw caved in a previous match and now they are back for blood. They sweat it out to the point that I stop and ask myself, "are they genuinely having fun or being a complete jerk fun to them?" I only have fun when I'm playing with 3 other friends and we are all communicating thoroughly. Emphasis on thoroughly. Too much coordination is required to "have fun" as Survivor.

There is too much content while the base game goes neglected. Only super fans purchase every DLC for it to sit unused or unplayed until a new exploit is discovered (remember when that super useless perk "Wake Up" gave you a speed increase to ALL actions instead of just the exit gates? Or when Eruption was untouched for an entire year until the streamer kids packed it with other generator popping perks and started the toxic state of back-to-back gen popping perks that? The devs had to intervene in several ways but it took them another year to address Eruption.)

Until Bhvr slows down on content and chooses to DELIVERS QUALITY CONTENT, you missed the glory days of Dead by Daylight. RIP 2018-2022. In 2024, DbD is all icing and no caket... it's like having the same flavor cupcake with 48 different frostings on it... matcha frosting, funfetti frosting, pickle flavored frosting, popcorn flavored frosting, strawberry frosting, mango-habanero frosting... mac sauce icing... you get the point.
