Uplay more like PooPlay

If you can't get online to work but you've already purchased it, just get a pirated copy instead - nothing morally wrong about that because you already purchased the game.

EDIT: 7 of my play hours are from playing it in 2013, the next 53 hours are from trying to get the UPlay autopatcher to download the add-ons. The instructions on the Uplay website to deal with that error didn't work for me. Eventually got it to work by downloading pirated files then having the game files re-verified by Steam.

EDIT: Then I played it for a few hours and it was cool but the joy had been sapped outta me by that point

The definitive way to play Deus Ex in 2019 - while this game has aged remarkably well, being the greatest PC game of all time, there were still some minor gameplay elements that were really out of date and off-putting to new players. For new players, especially those who are younger than the game itself, I recommend this version over the original. Added achievements create extra replay value for DX vets whov'e played the game a gajillion times.

EDIT: warning, it is impossible to 100% the achievements in this game, because they added some unbeatable, poorly designed "challenges" that unlock when you beat the game once (these were introduced after I had 100%'d the game, RIP).

Everyone in the DX:R community hates these challenges as far as I can see, noone enjoys playing them, and I have not seen any compelling evidence that anyone has acquired those achievements without cheating. I'm starting to think you need augmentations yourself to actually beat these challenges.

But that is only really a negative if you are a completionist, otherwise you can ignore them, so I'm keeping the thumbs up. Post-game challenges are a great idea, but these are a poorly designed mess and I hope Caustic Creative does something about them soon.

I don't get why 2K delisted this game just cos they made a sequel

This is a reeeeeally addictive game - I spent 176 consecutive days on it according to my player stats (mostly on phone). It helped get me through a stressful time in my life, was a super fun distraction. I got King of Games twice during the 6-month period I played, and I felt very accomplished about it.

The problem is - keeping up with the meta and staying competitive is very expensive, as it changes frequently with banlists, new card boxes, etc. I remember I spent hundreds on a fur hire deck then it was only good for a couple of months til it was put on a banlist. Other decks I had suffered the same fate or slowly became less powerful in the face of newer more powerful cards.

If you need a card to keep up with the IRL meta, its cheap as hell - go on ebay, get the card for usually between $1-$10. Here you've gotta endless open randomised booster packs, and all those microtransactions stop being so micro after awhile. No trading to lighten the load. I decided I had better things to spend my money on.

Addictive + expensive = not a good combo.

The PvE is fun and isn't as expensive, I recently started playing again to get that final 100 Prismatic cards achievement, and I'm just farming/grinding the crafting ingredients. Since I'm not concerned with PvP I can devote all my in-game resources to getting those Prismatics. As far as grinding goes it very fun. Then I'm gonna play a Yu-Gi-Oh game that isn't out to rob me blind.

P.S. Would recommend this game if you're very rich and money is no object. Otherwise you're gonna waste lots of money OR you're gonna get creamed by rich people and people with no sense of fiscal responsibility.

EDIT 2: should mirror retro sports arcade games less in the lack of long-term content. I ran out of things to do after 15 hours.

It was fun for a few hours but I found the cards system very constricting.

Definitely the best poker game on steam

But it definitely suffers from the usual problem of free poker games where because there's no money at stake people constantly go all-in with garbage hands, but that isn't the devs fault thats just the dumbass fish these kinda games attract

Also this game has the closest a videogame avatar has ever looked like me which is pretty cool

They updated the graphics a little but the didn't change the biggest flaw of the first game - the inability to place more than one table bet. Roulette is a game of luck, even more so when in videogame form where its an RNG instead of a physical wheel, where there may be imperfections you can exploit. So having only one bet at a time takes away what little strategy there is in videogame/RNG roulette.

And the pace is painfully dull... it takes like 10-20 seconds from the moment the ball lands to "you have won/lost place your bets".

so its just a slow-paced, boring experience with no strategy. After being duped into buying a few games from this company I'm now convinced these guys are more interested churning out mediocre videogames based on casino table games as a cashgrab, instead of having any real integrity or interesting/innovative design.

The best casino gambling game on Steam is still CasinoRPG, but that isn't saying much.
