The game is good, but the optimization leaves enough to be desired that I'm intentionally giving it a negative review.

On both RTX 3060 and GTX 1650 Ti, I have similar FPS, regardless of settings. Something is not right.

The mod is just not fun. It could be, but there's too many issues to overlook.

A (short) list of issues:
No sorting by player counts or ping via the server browser.
Low FPS/ weird mouse smoothing (on GTX 1660 Ti).
Hitreg can be a pain in the ass. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
Some of gamemodes are simply not good (Battleroyale should have bigger maps, longer invulnerability or anything to balance it out).
Most of the time if you die you just wait until it's over.
Car/prop race it's a bit too glitchy and there's a lot of just plain running around with noone near.

Dunno, I would just rather play Garry's Mod.

Good game. Would be much better if I had friends I could play it with.

It's ironic how TF2 now became Valve's most content rich AND playable FPS game.

CS2 sucks. It's unpolished and infested with cheaters. Older Valve games' in-game browser is heavily exploited, Dota 2 is it's own thing...

and here's TF2: now almost completely bot-free, with endless maps, gamemodes and hats.

id Software has decided that any signs of critisism from the base game (marauders, little ammo, tentacles, narrow corridors) will be pumped up to 200% or even 300%, that's clearly the way they want to go with new Doom and do I agree?
No, but I can understand it's the game design they want to persuit, it's absolutely great and playable. If you mastered Eternal, this will be a good challenge if you want to obey the Doom dance and stuff. I like challenges and being frustrated by my own mistakes but some parts such as the fog arachnotron or the electric pillars were straight up ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, got through them but didn't enjoy it.

I just wish id Software didn't retcon most of Doom 2016, the storyline feels unpolished and not glued particularly great together.
I prefered the raw force of the faceless Slayer, Heaven being only vague but there's no turning back now.

Why do I give it a thumbs up instead of thumbs down? The DLC is great, buy it if you want or wait for a sale, I just have different expectations regarding map design and story.

Changed back to positive after the decision to remove Denuvo Anti-Cheat and address performance and crash-related problems.

I hope that any other kernel-level anti-cheat solutions will not be implemented in the future.
This is not strictly aimed against Denuvo, I hold similar opinions regarding Riot's Vanguard.

One thing is clear, I won't trust iD Software with their future releases and I am going to stay cautious for now. Shame that it had to happen.

Valve's working on new competitive multiplayer game while Counter-Strike 2 still has less content than CS:GO had and is filled with cheaters, but adding back previous features and having a functional anti-cheat would be 'treadmill work' for them, no?

I'm selling my skins and items. There's no point in supporting this game and Steam as a whole.
