In South Carolina on august 8th of 2009 Alex Mayher, a 8 year old boy, was swimming with his family in a local lake that leads out to the beach. Alex was dragged underwater for 6 minutes as the boys father, Steven Mayher jumped into the water to save the boy. His father (Steven Mayher) pulled out the boy only to find out it was too late, his body was ripped in half at the abdomen. The Autopsy reports pin the attack on a adult bullshark. ( approximately 7 feet in length according to the measurements on the bite marks ) Authorities are now putting up signs around all rivers, lakes and streams reminding people that august is peak bullshark season, alongside state officials pushing for search parties to remove all bullsharks in the area and relocate them to another isolated location. This is just one of the many grim reminders to the state of South Carolina that the waters are not safe.
