I tried this for 40 minutes and in less than one day on the first basic planet, I was happily gathering / crafting, killed a wolf, skinned it, chopped some trees. Everything was going ok I guess.

but then a weather event happened, looked at my tech tree to see anything for roof, thatch was out of reach, i watched my health go down, went to eat some food and every food item (carrots / pumpkins) had spoiled.

I hate when food spoils within a few hours so much so I uninstalled it and am writing this review so I will avoid this game in the future.

This TD game is infested with bad decisions on how to design a TD game.

You get to have horrible, unskippable dialogue at the beginning of each wave
You get enemies that look the same as your army
It's a grindfest of epic proportions to upgrade your abilities aka RPG traits
And the music just absolutely sucks.

I finally gave up after clicking through the dialogues for the upteenth time

You know I have a decent time with this game, I cleared out all the bases on Mars and just finished the ones on the Moon, but the fact that I can't remap the E key while in flight (that is both a targetting and "GET OUT OF MY SEAT" key if pressed one nano-second longer, is about to make me uninstall the game.

The flight mechanics are so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awful on this game. Why do people think they can do it better than true space fighting games like Everspace 2? Why do you insist on thinking you know better?

Whoever designed the flight mechanics and particularly the E key getting you out of your seat WHILE IN FLIGHT should be fired. Put your badge on the table, hang your head in shame and get the ♥♥♥♥ out of game deisgn / game development.

EDIT: Ok, after a few more hours, the game just keeps getting worse and worse. Crafting / Resources? I have over 50 resources, but not the 2-3 I need to do basic level 1 stuff at the workbenches. On top of that, while crafting will pull resources from your ship, your ship is limited and if you have a box (like on Constellation) where you can put all your resources, the 4 different crafting stations will not pull from that box in the SAME ROOM.

Loot - you're out your fighting, you get all these drops (weapons / suits / helmets / etc) and the game tells you "Hey that's worth $1,500 space bucks" but then when you go to sell it you get 1/8 of that.

I can't stand the ship flight controls (See the letter "E" above), and the default ship turns like a 18 wheeler. I was spoiled by Everspace.

I visited Earth. It sucked ballz. The moon was cool, but after the battles, with ♥♥♥♥ loot and crap crafting, what is left in this game?

This game has so much going for it. I really like the mechanics. Unfortunately it's a bit too easy to win and the promised updates the devs said they were doing have not come. It looks like it's abandoned.

Too bad, it had a lot of promise.

This is a fabulous take on Tower Defense. Currently, there is only story mode - but challenge modes are coming. The story has you growing / defending the queen bee from hornets, dragon flies, lady bugs and moths, each who are more destructive than the first.

Waves keep coming and coming and coming. There is no break. Fortunately there is a fast-forward (2 levels!) and a save / load so you can save and come back later. My first game took 3 hours to get to the end and by the end, I was barely hanging on.

With a hex based game, the layouts you can come up with are infinite. It really rewards long term planning and the tech tree is enormous, with 3 separate pages. A minor quibble is the tech tree isn't fully shown. It has a "fog of war" kind of implementation, where you only see the next 1-2 techs in each branch. I've already snapshotted the full tech tree so I can do more planning.

This game is just so unique and beautiful that if you are a fan of TD games, you must get this one!

I don't like the camera / 3rd person movement, my char is always facing the wrong way to do things. I don't like the grinding and I'm just in the first few hours, I have to get to level 7 to turn off the spawns, and there is only so much I can do other than go to the campfire so they respawn to get more XP. It's either that or destroy every vine in the level, which I'm not going to do.

This is a good game that will challenge you. It is a Rogue, so you're going to die. You just need to get as much done between deaths and get upgrades for your next run.

It's very challenging for people who have difficulty multi-tasking (avoiding shots, shooting, healing) with a limited range of movement when the bosses show up. Just take the death and upgrade and scour the mines for blue-prints because they are permanent.

I had way too many questions 20 minutes into the game that I could not find answers for, so the game failed me and I refunded.

Also day cycles are way too short. Like impossibly short.

I really don't like the gear structure / blood having so much impact on your playstyle. I'm old I am not that twitchy, I need to have more certainties in my life.

Blood type can give you a lot of damage resistance - but keeping that blood % high when all the stupid people around are 1-5% with an occasional high % around that just can not last b/c you're always having to get new blood.

The boss fights are ridiculous and I grow frustrated when I die 3x to a boss trying to get through, but I hear people say (heck I tried 10x to get them). I don't have that patience.

It's a cool game. I wish I could reduce boss hit points by 50% and eliminate all the adds they generate during a fight b/c the adds are worse than the boss in so many cases.

In summary, I'm just too old for this ridiculously great looking game that has too many hard bosses.

This is the most frustrating / stupid "city builder" I have ever played.

You have zero idea on what you should build or research. The game appears to want you to play it 100x to figure out the right path.

The game tells you "find / make electronics" to make solar panels but then how do you make electronics? I've scavenged everything within distance.

The game is SO INCREDIBLY SLOW PACED. OMG this thing, even on 3x is a game just waiting for things to happen that you've ordered.

Oh, you want to see the things you've queued up for orders? Nah, not available.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

This is a unique blend of 3d space shooters and hunting for parts to puzzles in an environment that is absolutely incredible. The puzzles aren't difficult, but finding the pieces to complete the puzzles are. If you approach it with a zen like attitude, and listen to the chill music, it can be pretty rewarding. I put over 100 hours into this and wrote a beginner guide, so that is more than an attestation that I love this game more than anything else.

It's a tough game on normal / hard. You need to be choosy about when and where to fight.

While I do love this game, I do have several complaints:

1. Gear upgrades (Perks, Mainframe) are largely pathetic and only add 5-10%. The effort to get these do not really represent a return on investment in time.

2. Ship buying is a PITA and broken. It's very hard to get a ship you want because the ship dealers have rotating stock and the perk that turns this stock over is so late in the game is largely unused. Once you buy a ship, your choices are halved b/c now it thinks you want the next level which will be 3x the amount of money you have. It doesn't leave a lot of room for experimentation in the early game.

3. Puzzles can often turn into a needle in a haystack feeling and the one tool they give you (markers) you only get 3. That is not sufficient enough.

4. It is very easy to get overleveled and in return, the game gets dull, particularly the last 1/4 of the game if you do overlevel. It's a challenge, because the ships cost so much $$, you have to do a lot of battles / missions / jobs, which overlevels you to the point where the end of the game is a cakewalk.

5. The game gives you several really big ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that you want to kill and the game takes the killing away from you through heavily scripted and controlled events. Let me kill that mofo!
