TLDR: The game is very fun, tough and semi-rewarding to play though. I would recommend picking it up on a sale as the $19.99 price tag is a little much for the amount of content the game offers currently. Buy it if you can afford it, wait if you cant.

This game does a lot of things right in my book, and kept me engaged for the short time it took to complete it. At the time of writing the review I have just over 2 hours of playtime (2.2 hours).

What it does right:
Combat
The combat in this game is extremely engaging in a sense that you have to be paying attention and making the correct movements to get a leg up on the enemy. It makes for extremely fun and fast paced gameplay.

Movement
The movement feels great. The quake like leaning while changing directions, the arm movements, the speed of the character and the overall agility you have while maneuvering is EXTREMELY satisfying.

Organ Harvesting
The ability to upgrade your health, damage, speed and health regeneration allows for significant variations in character builds, combat, and movement routes. Changing out body parts works quickly and relatively seamlessly. Finding a new organ that increase your max health or drastically changes your finger guns is very rewarding and something I looked forward too. This system does have its downsides though, and I will talk about that in a later section.

World-building
I LOVE the world that the game builds. Talking to NPCs is not the greatest experience in the game, but the wall of text some of them provide give you wonderful snippets of the world and what shapes it to be. Piecing things together, learning why things behave certain ways is very satisfying and I highly recommend talking to the NPCs if you don't mind reading. Its clear that Miziziziz (and anyone he collabed with for the writing) spent time in building a world that had meaning.

Sound Design
Sound design and soundtrack are phenomenal. The music is great and nails the mood and atmosphere of whatever encounter or biome you are in. Keeps the blood bumping during fights, and gives you time to relax and cooldown between them. Gunshots, reloads, explosions and other sound effects are very fitting for the bio-punk theme and sound great as well. My only gripe with the sound design is that in between fights, you can dip down to only ambient audio. This ambient audio is often too quiet, or "too ambient" to notice (which I guess is a compliment about immersion?).

What it does wrong:
Level Design
This is a pretty broad category. Overall the world is extremely pleasing visually and is fun to explore. However, most of the levels are just too big. Large vast areas of completely open land with a few hills and broken spacecraft are very common in the first area, and the only difference for the second area is instead of space craft, you get more trees. The third area, apart from one encounter, is just an extremely open canyon that the player slowly walks (or slides) down until they reach the end, where they slowly climb up a ramp. The locations are just too big and ultimately make the player feel sluggish as it takes anywhere up to 2 minutes to travel from fight to fight. This would be fine if the game didn't aim for fast combat and movement. The last mission (right before the final boss fight) where you are navigating through corridors and ultimately open up to a larger room that requires you to climb up, was the nearly a perfect level in my mind when it come to size and design. It was engaging, spooky, and ultimately rewarding to climb to the end without dying.

Boss Fights
The worm boss fight is alright. Its tough if you don't read the sign before the tunnel, but if you jump around constantly and shoot at the worm, its an easy fight. Following up that fight with the second boss, is nuts. The second boss has the potential to be great, but the boss moves too quickly and janky to predict where it is coming from. Dying in only 2-3 from it means you can make essentially no mistakes. I got "lucky" and it got stuck behind a pillar and I was able to kill it by just unloading into it for a minute and ended up with a really unrewarding boss fight. The final boss fight is either extremely challenging if you go with a non-explosive weapon, or an easy 3 shot if you pick any of the grenade launchers. There isn't much in-between here. Still fun though.

Length - The game is just too short and offers too little content. Most of the game's runtime is made up from repeating fights due to deaths. If you have a flawless run you can likely complete it in an hour or less.

Closing Thoughts:
The game is fun, but is too pricey for what it currently offers. I think the game would really thrive with a few more close quarter levels. Possibly adding two or three additional sequences where the player encounters some bandits / monsters in the tunnels they use to traverse biomes. Close quarter combat and movement like that will really shine with the systems already in the game. Having a few smaller levels like this will likely also make the large open levels more welcoming and a nice change of pace.
