I cannot recommend this game. This game is NOT family friendly. Ranging from the avatars to the discussions. I've heard so many people use the "fa**ot" word, or "ni**er" word over and over again. I'm not politically correct by any means but it's literally every user.

Then everyone runs around in horny avatar with jiggly boobs or their butts hanging out. It's a shame, because I do enjoy this game. The games inside VR Chat can be fun, but the community ruins it. And the developers of VR Chat make reporting these people next to impossible.

"Hurr durr you're not ready to report yet". Uhh, what?! So basically there's a gate you have to get through to report inappropriate users. Right, whoever thought that up needs to be fired.

4/10, would have been 8/10 but the game is it's own worst enemy. I play it on both stand alone and PC VR. It's just as bad no matter which version.

Get your crap together devs! Don't let this game go down the toilet because you're incapable of implementing a reporting system. And I'm not gonna mute 20 people through the course of 2-5 games / worlds.

And add an age limit! Or remove the NSFW crap!

Absolutely NOT recommended. I'm an avid player of Warframe / Destiny so thought this would be up my alley. HOWEVER, this is a poor and pale imitation of those two games.

First off, you load shaders more than you actually play the game. Ridiculous. The game is also very poorly optimized and there's no real settings to alleviate the issues either, or lessen them at the very least.

Secondly things are poorly explained, like which cores go with what and all that. The learning curve is relatively steep, once you get past that though it's simple enough. Not as smooth as Warframe in terms of modding, but it's OK.

Then on top of all of this, the story is virtually nonexistent. And then the game wants you to spend money on provocative skins. So I wouldn't recommend this game to kids unless you want them focused on girlie parts.

In other words, stick to Warframe or Destiny.

In all honesty, I cannot recommend this game to general gamers.

I'll start with the good and make my way to the bad:

It's got a decent story, the graphics aren't half bad and plenty of weapons / play styles to choose from. A lot of the players are friendly, was gifted a couple of weapons the second I stepped out of the vault from some high level players. Those weapons carried me a LONG time. Just don't visit the Reddit Fallout 76 community as it's toxic, unlike the players in game which have been friendly and helpful.

Now the bad, sometimes it feels like E.A. published this game because you'll need the Fallout 1st in order to really enjoy the game. If you don't get fallout 1st, you'll quickly find your storage space run out! The storage system runs on weight, so if you find power armor pieces and heavy guns you like but don't use all the time they take up weight in your storage box. Same for junk and food / water and aid. And all of a sudden, you have a cache of good weapons and no where to store them! Want to build that epic C.A.M.P.? Tough! No room for junk so you'll just have to leave all that valuable steel scrap behind!

With Fallout 1st, you get infinite ammo / junk storage. The pro's with 1st is you DO get 1650 ATOMS monthly which I suppose is worth it, and the infinite storage of junk / ammo is the icing on the cake.

Still feels like storage should be something you can work for in game to expand so you could store more without resorting to pay IRL money.

Now finally, the bugs. No fallout game is fallout with the bugs, however the bugs in this game are especially heinous.

For starters, some bugs are simply game breaking. For example, there's a quest you do that involved you blowing up a vault door. I was stuck on this quest for a week because all the NPC's would just stand around doing nothing after we blew the door. Then one day they moved into the vault, but the security door wouldn't open.

The fix from Betheda support? A mix of jerry rigs and hope. "Go into the elevator back to Appalachia but don't go out! Just go back down without exiting the elevator." Did this 20+ times, eventually I got further until I had to keep doing that to progress again.

Then other bugs include the Power Armor bug where you're stuck standing still behind your Power Armor upon trying to enter for 1-2 minutes WHILE things are trying to (and successfully) kill you.

How about boss fights where the boss ends up behind a huge door so your team can't continue because the boss can't be killed? A good waste of time that leaves a bad taste in your mouth, much like a week old Slocum Joe's coffee.

I'm stuck on a main story now because I killed the boss yet the game didn't register him as being dead so the boss is just standing there, dead but alive like some brainless zombie.

Then of course, the random drops from the game which locks your controls until either you're kicked back to the main menu while in the middle of a mission OR you're dead because something killed you because your controls were locked. -_-

I'd only buy this game in two scenarios: 1) You're a die hard Fallout enjoyer or 2) You've got nothing better to do AND the game is on sale for five bucks. I belong to group two with a touch of group 1. (Been playing Fallout since Fallout One)

Horrible. Literally nothing to do. Don't let this "but it's open alpha!" nonsense fool you, they've been around in various formats (namely web based) since 2013...

An updated review. At first, I could not recommend this game. While it was fun, the bugs were too many and the world felt dead and "set in stone" (i.e., very little interactivity).

So, while the world still feels relatively set in stone it IS getting better! Which is to be expected in a game that's under active development. I mentioned the use of asset packs, and again this wasn't a disparaging comment. I was merely highlighting the fact that since it's a static world, things that shouldn't bring you to a complete and sudden stop did because they're "baked" into the map.

But after numerous updates, I can finally recommend this game. Not only is Kamron (the DeadPoly developer) active in his Discord community, he in fact listens to his player base! Plus, he's a nice guy which helps.

So, here's the Pro's and Con's of the game:

Pro's:
Kamron is actively developing the game.
There is a ton of places to build a base, or you can create your own mega structure to ride out the zombie war in.
Vehicle rework with new vehicles.
Tons of customization options!
A good selection of weaponry.
A lot of loot to be found.
A lot of collectables.
Enough furniture and decoratoins to make a fun base!
Crafting doesn't require a degree - i.e. simple crafting system (which I appreciate!)

Con's:
The world, while getting better still feels a little "dead". Like mentioned above, hitting certain things when driving stops you in your tracks.
Water is instadeath if you fall off of a bridge - No way to retrieve your stuff from your body.
When playing online, cars are hoarded up by other players forcing you to either contact a server admin to reset some or just walk on foot.
Needs more weapons.
Rudimentary quest system.

But all this is expected from an early release build of the game. I myself enjoy the base building aspect of the game very much. That's why I've dropped so many hours into it. At one point, I had a whole city rebuilt!

But now, I've gotten into the survival aspect as well. Running around in the darkness with a little light illuminating your path is terrifying, especially as you hear shuffling behind you! And when you finally build up enough courage to turn around you see a zombie running on all fours and you're lucky enough to get off a few good shots before they tear you to shreds!

This game has more jump scares than Dead Space! And it's not even a scary game, haha!

So take this old mans word for it, if you'd like to be part of a fun community lead by a developer who enjoys his community and player base this game is for you.

Just keep in mind, there are bugs and short comings as there are in all early stage games. But for each update, the game gets better!

I purchased this game upon release and enjoyed it. Loved the solo campaign and especially enjoyed the multiplayer aspect. However, all good things come to an end. This game is pretty much abandoned by players. You're lucky if you stumble across a couple playing randomly.

Anyway, this game is quite fun. The aesthetics of the world is pleasing. The mix of "future tech meets decay" is done well. You can see how nice the world once was. The game play is solid, a mix of classic FPS and parkour mixed together. Plenty of customization options as well, so for those of you who like to play dress up it's got you covered.

Sad it's been abandoned, as it's still a fun game even if you play with bots. Can I recommend getting this game? No, unless a revival occurs within the player base.

Overall, a fun game. Very reminiscent of a classic movie, "Honey I Shrunk the Kids". If you like crafting / survival games, you'll enjoy "Grounded". Multiplayer is a huge plus, as times Grounded can seem so big and empty despite the abundance of animal life.

I'm in my 30's, first ever console I owned was an NES I bought new at Toys 'R' Us with birthday money. There was so much excitement, spent the whole drive home looking at the box with all the wonderful art on it of Duck Hunt and Mario Bro's. I haven't really felt that kind of excitement since those days. Then today I see this game, I bought it and downloaded it and I'm reliving my childhood. For the first time in ages, I feel excited over a game like I used to.

From the 8bit track to the typical NES graphics, this game has it all. It's no cake walk, just like any old school game. But it's fun and filled with "Nestalgia" as the devs put it.

I'm loving it, and if you like any kind of retro gaming you will too. And you can't beat the price! I'd gladly have paid 10x as much!
