Great game. Terrible RPG.

The GOOD:
-Excellent gunplay
-The settlement building system is awesome
-Lots of stuff to do. You can barely wander out for about a minute or so without running into something else you can do. The wasteland is not empty.
-Really cool weapon upgrades/mods and a lot of the legendary weapons rock
-The companions all have some sort of actual backstory
-The story is pretty decent.
-It's Fallout
-Enemies do not scale.
-There are quite a few perks
-No level cap, you can literally play forever. Eventually you'll run out of perks to gain though, but hey that's what DLC is for, right? RIGHT??

The BAD:
-Skill points are gone. Completely. Entirely replaced by perks. It makes the game feel much less like a true RPG (like Fallout is supposed to be) and more like Borderlands or something.
-You get a total of four dialog options, and they're basically the same every time.
-The map size is a bit small
-Sometimes it's a bit difficult to place stuff in a settlement because of awkward positioning controls
-When you put your gun away in third person mode, it just disappears.
-Some quests (like the Minutemen quests and a few BoS quests) are highly repetitive and never end.
-The PIP-Boy UI is kind of a pain if you're using a keyboard & mouse.
-Fusion cores last for about 5 minutes, which I guess makes sense in game terms but doesn't make sense at all in terms of lore.

All in all, the game's absolutely fantastic. Yeah, they really, REALLY strayed from the RPG formula that Fallout is supposed to have, which is disconcerting but in the grand scheme of things doesn't really make the game less fun. It's kind of like Skyrim on crack.
