TLDR; If you're looking for a good puzzle platformer, look for something else. If you're only interested in aesthetics and don't care about the rest, this could be your fit.

Overrated. Expected something similar to GRIS, although not quite as polished. Unfortunately this game has nothing going for it except for it's art style and presentation, which is really good to be honest.
Sadly the gameplay is totally bland. Your character feels slow, the controls are clunky and the puzzles are not at all engaging. For a puzzle platformer i expect the platforming to feel nice and intuitive. It's unfortunately not the case for this game
After the first chapter i thought it's short enough, might as well just finish it. But then i decided that it doesn't make any sense to stick with a game i don't have fun with.

TLDR; Don't play this on PC. You might waste your time getting it to work.

Most time yet i had to invest so much time getting a game to work and even then were crashes a daily occurence.
Never had a game crash so much on me. If you don't believe me take the 100+ hours recorded by steam besides my 70 hour savegame. Yep, spent approx 30h fiddling with settings and dealing with crashes. Awesome. Best Part is, Performance Problems only occured after the prologue and then you are close to the 2h mark, which is why i couldn't return this. (i surely would've otherwise)

The game itself is good, although i find it ridiculously overrated. All there is to say about it IMO is: it's an open world game set in the wizarding world. That's all you can expect from it, as it brings nothing new or exciting to the table expect it's world and design. Sure, the combat system is fun. But that's about it. Also i find it a tad bit too long, at least too much meaningless open world crap you can do. Regardless, i had fun with it. But also am happy that i'm done with it

Sadly, the game is entirely build on grind and meta progression. There's not a learning curve or skill based runs, you simply are bound to die until you grinded enough upgrades to progress further. Unfortunately for this, the default gameplay is not interesting enough to keep me playing. You dig, loot stuff, get some run based upgrades and frequently return to your spider to fight of enemies. The combat is not really engaging and you can't do much unless you grind some runs for permanent upgrades.

The game is a little overrated and IMO wouldn't be reviewed that good if it wasn't for the price point. I like the concept but it does too little for me to keep grinding

That being said i have to highlight that the price is really fair for what you get and i think more games should be in this price range compared to what content they offer.

Quite fun to take a break and relax. Concept & Progression is very intuitive. Perfect game as a filler if you got little spare time on your hands. Quite a lot of copycats out there currently for this concept and most of them are quite good, too. But none come close to the simple yet entertaining experience that is Vampire Survivors

This game gets too much praise. Although it's not a straight up bad game, it's not as good as people try to tell you. It gets very repetitive really fast and the game elements are not that much fun to hold your attention 'til the end of the game. The fact that the game isn't very long but still too long to be fun for it's whole playtime was very exhausting for me. From the half point on i hadn't much fun with the game and was already anticipating the end so that i can be done with it. Combat is really simple but get's only more annoying. Especially in the later areas, where you're thrown with encounter after encounter, consisting of enemies which are mostly the same but in greater numbers. Don't get me started with enemies which instant kill you if you don't kill them fast enough. Endgame enemies have the mechanic to randomly teleport away, which kinda breaks the flow of combat and doesn't do anything except wasting your time & combo.
Also there are some irritating checkpoints where you have to go through another area again just to reach the point where you died, which just wastes your time. This is in particular annoying in areas where you die instantly from environmental hazards. The game doesn't do very interesting stuff with it's metroidvania elements, you just get additional attacks for color code blocks which are destroyed by those attacks - apart from wallrun or the goat fly near the end of the game there isn't anything shaking up the gameplay, and backtracking for items which are not very rewarding isn't much fun either, also because the world isn't that interesting. There is a Teleport system, although the spots are often not in smart areas which led to me not using it for the most part.

All in all i can't say that this should at all be a metroidvania, and those element feel rather forced. Could be replaced with doors & keys, this game does nothing interesting with the formula - especially as the world doesn't change as you progress the games.
If you're looking for a metroidvania, play sth else. Because most games use the metroidvania elements in a better way.

"This is so weird."

Must play. Especially because of the Ashtray Maze - Best gaming moment in a long time. Also, Dr. Darlings music video!

The art style and the presentation of the game are just mesmerizing while the gameplay is in no way inferior. Fell in love first second just as with the predecessor!
