Every other class based shooter has been adding ♥♥♥♥ 4 times a year to keep people playing, but since this one is valve's and therefore doesn't *need* to make money to survive, they drop in new items very rarely, and usually listen to the community for balance.

As a result, and this should go without saying, this is one of the most balanced class based shooters in existence. It was pretty well balanced on release and it has stayed that way. It is simpler than Overwatch on it's face but actually has far more depth, because rather than having 30 characters with 1 cool trick each it has 9 characters who each have several cool tricks, plus more with unlocked weapons. People who have been playing a while will always have complaints but they just haven't played another game recently, they don't know how good they have it.

Main problem is that the official matchmaking is worse than just finding some community servers you know are good.
