Very neat game! A little unwieldy at first, but once you get the hang of it it starts to flow nicely and you can really shmoove. I really really enjoyed act 1 and would really love more levels in the same vein. The way the world starts to feel like it opens up once you figure out what items do what and what keys will get you through doors was really satisfying- I think my only complaint is some enemies or items felt under utilized, but at the same time it makes each area have its own unique challenges. Act 2 on the other hand was an interesting puzzle, but felt like a different game. I thought movement was better used for interesting platforming challenges, but it cut out a lot of the strategy- that one area with the 3 rings was terrifying though lol. I think this is a real gem overall and I'm glad I stumbled upon it, look forward to Knife Demon Softwares future works!

Incredible game from start to finish. It has a unique mix of real time and turn based combat, and it's simple to pick up without sacrificing depth. Every character has a great number of build options and the encounters are varied enough to keep you trying new things to get an edge. Also has a very neat mechanic that has your choices in the story affect combat but having your characters guilt manifest as ghosts that creep towards you not while time is moving in combat, but when it's stopped and you're making your choices.

And speaking of the story, I enjoyed every last minute of it. It has a fantasy/western setting resembling Central/South America with a very diverse array of cultures and creatures. It also has a great deal of environmental storytelling making the world feel huge and full of wonder without needing to tell you everything that's out there. The cast is comprised of many great characters with a surprising amount of depth, each with their own motivations and flaws. The game also gives you choices that really feel like they matter, making you think carefully when something comes up no matter how insignificant it may seem at a glance. The actual overarching narrative itself was really well put together as well, a good revenge story where you play as indigenous people of various cultures fighting against colonizers.

Personally I think its a masterpiece, and I hope it eventually gets the recognition it deserves. Now that I've finished and given my thoughts, I'm gonna hop right back in to see what other choices and discoveries await me in the beautiful world of Arco.

As a fan of Aragami I bought the game immediately after seeing the trailer as it's very clearly inspired by it, and conceptually the main ability to merge with the shadows seemed really neat. Unfortunately it's not what I was looking for.

The levels are large and open but don't have the challenge to make every choice feel meaningful. Often I'd find there are multiple routes to get to the same place, but then neither route would have any enemies that could see you or any unique challenge to them. Maybe I'm just too used to stealth games, but I managed to get pacifist and ghost in every level pretty easily and I didn't even use most special abilities, just blind a few times.

I think there's almost something here, but what I'd want is more enemies in every level, enemies being able to see further, enemies detecting you faster if they spot me, something to stop you from just going high ground to avoid sight everywhere, and better guard routes that force you to keep moving in certain sections. Also just less empty space- I think some of the puzzles were neat, but less running through empty areas with no enemies would be good.

Right now I think I can't really recommend this game, but if you want and easier stealth game with a unique mechanic this may be what you're looking for. This is the dev teams first game though as far as I'm aware, and I do see a lot of potential here, I hope in the future to see them take another crack at games main mechanic with some tighter level design and smarter enemy ai.

Not a lot going on in this game. Not really a fan of games that feel like almost pure chance, never feel good about winning, feel annoyed when losing. feel like this game could have something there, but right now I'd say it's not really worth the time.

I Essentially you're moving around a maze picking up items, and playing a game of chance against other subjects. All the games really amount to is picking up cards in your hand hoping you don't pick up the bad cards- but you have to pick them all up before you draw again anyway. If you get the right items you can navigate this a little, but items are somewhat few, most of them are worthless on their own or just worthless if you don't get lucky, and you can only bring 4 to any duel. There's also the joker mechanic, but to be real it doesn't matter much, just another gamble on top of a gamble. Also the camera being forced around when the enemy draws a bad card is a little annoying.

Gameplay aside, I think the creature design is alright, I did like how its posture changes with each finger lost. but this loses its novelty after you've seen it a couple times.

If you're a fan of low stakes chance games this might be an alright way to kill an hour given it's free, but otherwise I think it's a bit lacking and you can probably find something more worth the time.
