Arguably one of the most compelling games that I have ever played. This game was my first and, is still, my favorite game in the grand strategy genre. It just recently went free to play. The vanilla game is fantastic to play, especially if you are a student of history, as you can take control of a ruling dynasty throughout the entire medieval era and guide them to success or failure.

However, some of the best parts of Crusader Kings II are all of the brilliant mods made by the community. These mods essentially make the game an entirely different experience in a multitude of different settings. My personal favorites are Elder Kings (The Elder Scrolls), and Warhammer: Geheimnisnacht (Warhammer Fantasy), and the After the End Fan Fork (Post-Apocalypse Americas). Plus there is also a fantastic A Song of Ice and Fire mod, which is the original reason I found out about the game in the first place. Do yourself a favor and buy the game, I can guarantee you will not regret it. Just make sure you use some guides and tutorials, both in game and on YouTube, so you can get the most out of the experience.

Just make sure that you wait for a sale if you are going to buy the DLC, as they are quite expensive if you want to get a good amount of them.
