Consider a neutral review, leaning positive.

I've played many of the Cube Escape/Rusty Lake games, and consider myself a fan of the series. The co-op conceit here is very clever, especially taking into account that there is no connection between the two game clients. However, I think it may have been too limiting on puzzle design, as the puzzles got repetitive by the end. It felt like playing an early Cube Escape or The Room game (depending on the chapter) that gets interrupted by a round of Keep Talking or Nobody Explodes or Spaceteam.

For me, the most successful element of the game is how the Rusty Lake style was translated into 3D, even if it's just a taste. I hope they explore that dimension (ha) more in future Rusty Lake games.

My playtime as of this review is a full runthrough of the game. I played in The Past. I will probably replay it to check out The Future/play with my partner now that I know The Past isn't too spooky for her.

Altogether, it's not a bad way to spend a spooky fall evening with a friend or loved one for a few bucks. I just wouldn't expect anything so mind-blowing as some of the reviews I've seen have said.
