The game was short, but it was definitely fun.

The level design is basically asking to be skipped in all the ways possible. You never are held in a set path and can just jump off it (intentionally or not). Same goes for enemies. You can spend some time to beat them and get some extra points, or you can parry through their attacks while running at mach speed.
The soundtrack is just as great as in the first game.

I have some issues with the game: The story is pretty mediocre, the bosses are laughably easy (I played on normal), sometimes checkpoints respawn you facing the wrong direction, the UI should show buttons of the controller you are actually using and I believe some songs may have been reused from the previous title.
To be honest, these flaws did not really impact my enjoyment of the game.

I can definitely recommend Spark 2. It's a nice speed platformer with a lot of freedom in terms of movement. If only Sonic Forces was like this...

I bought this alongside Spark 2 and 3. The series always gave me that "raw" feeling whenever I looked at it or played the demos. I am by no means saying that it's a bad game (I'd give this Neutral rating if Steam allowed it), Felipe deserves all the praise for making such game alone, but I cannot skip over the various issues that impacted my enjoyment with the game.

Spark 1 is a mix between Sonic, Freedom Planet and Kirby. Sonic for it's speed platforming, Freedom Planet for the combat, and Kirby for the power ups.

For platforming, I'd say there's too many obstacles. At times I felt like I should stop at every step to avoid getting hit by off-screen enemies. It became really apparent by the end of the game. Throughout the entire game there were also places with pointless stage geometry. As in, no gimmicks or enemies, just platforms to jump through that kill your momentum.

Combat is alright. Most bosses telegraph their attacks enough to let you dodge or parry them. The powerups are also a nice way to vary your combat be it by charging through the enemy, spamming them at range or mashing them continuously with sword.. You get infinite lives and plenty of checkpoints so you don't have to worry about getting a game over.

The story is... meaningless. Most of the dialogues feel like they were supposed to be funny gags but they all fell flat. Most of them could be cut completely and the story wouldn't change one bit.

The control assignment was handled quite poorly. To access the controls you need to press Ctrl+Y which opens a separate window where you reassign the buttons, and the buttons aren't titled like "jump" or "dash", but "Z", "Y" like assigning buttons in an SNES emulator. At least you can access the window even in game to quickly readjust the controls. Just note that controls reset every time you quit the game.
There is also an issue with some sort of weird debug mode. I have accidentaly enabled it three times during my gameplay. It has messed up my powerups setup every time. :(

The soundtrack is awesome, huge props to the soundtrack team. If it weren't for the above issues I would pay it more mind and maybe let some of them live rent free in my brain.

Overall, for the price and scale the game is just okay. I finished the Spark's campaign but after just two stages I started feeling like it was dragging on. Regardless, the game has spawned it's own series, so clearly a lot of people found the game fun. It may not be for me, but who knows. Maybe you can have a blast with it.

It's free. There is no reason not to try it.

It's an easy yet fun stealth game which I fully completed in about 2.5 hours. I was playing with no patience to get myself more challenging time, and it was great!

The sheer existence of this game shows to me that SEGA (or at least the core dev team...) cares about Sonic.
I mean, a FREE game on April Fool's day released by a AAA company. That's just unheard of.

The game is really easy and I've completed it in 2.5h. Still, it was a fun little novel that I easily got immersed in.

So go ahead, take a spin at it. It's free after all.

A very good remaster of an already great series of point n' click adventure.
This time, I actualy felt smart knowing how to solve the puzzles.

tl;dr The game is good, but maybe get it on a discount

So, I saw this game on YouTube and got hyped quickly. It's Devil May Cry meets Guitar Hero.
I really dig the setting of the game where music brings electricity and apparently EDM doesn't produce enough of it, so you set off to fix that with Rock.

The soundtrack is an absolute banger and it adapts to how well you are doing. It can stay at pure EDM, EDM and rock mix or pure Rock. It's really satisfying to hear the rock version because of it.

With that being said... There are a lot of small things which bring this game down for me:
- The ending of the story gets too real, and I don't mean that stuff gets dark or traumatic. Trying to be as vague as possible, the game gets too political in my taste, and it's followed by a quite childlish response, which sadly is also too real;
- The player feedback is weak. I know that all attacks are dictated by the rhythm of the music, but visualy it feels off. I often found myself getting hit right as I wanted to dodge or attempted to parry an attack which apparently wanted to shoot at a later beat;
- The parries don't feel like they make much of an impact. Nearly everytime I parried an attack the projectile either disappeared or kept flying and I fired out few projectiles at the enemy. I mean, they do have an impact, but visualy they just feel so weak. The same thing goes for projectiles fired in general;
- I said previously that doing well will swap the music to rock, but at times I'm not sure if it's even possible. At many occassions I've been doing somewhat well, but by the time I managed to get to partial rock, the boss phase was already done and it automaticaly swapped to EDM for the next phase.
- While I do like the voices of characters, they could really calm down during gameplay. Really, I don't want to hear "Pew Pew Pew!" or "Bullseye!" everytime I shoot.

Honestly, I like the game. I finished it and I'm happy with what I've got. But, I'm not seeing myself completing it anytime soon.

There is a reason people call it Cracktorio.

No, seriously, I have spent so many hours and very late nights growing my factory. And the game knows how to engage you into doing so. At first you get simple stuff like smelting iron plates from iron ore, but then you gradualy get into more and more complicated stuff. Soon enough your factory may start looking like a circuit board, and it just feels so satisfying looking how a simple stuff like an iron and copper ore are progressively turned into rocket control units, low density structures etc. to craft a rocket into space.

If you saw this game and felt overwhelmed with the sheer amount of stuff being produced, don't worry. You won't have to take 10 hectares of land to make complex train systems and super-efficient facilities. Like I said, the game will slowly teach you how to do everything.

It should be known that the devs decided that the game will never be on sale but instead have a reasonable price for it's content, and in my opinion, it is definitely worth it.

This game is brutal so don't be surprised that you can't get to the end, or even to the 4th zone in your next... twenty tries. I am not even exaggerating. The main challenge being that not only the enemies can hurt you, but also the enviroment and yourself. Healing is very limited and most of the time your only time to heal up would be the areas between zones, which get further apart the deeper you go.

However, once you break through most the challenge (and watch a dozen of tutorials) you'll be able to create monstrous spells that will evaporate enemies, destroy any type of material and generaly make the game pay for all these failed runs you had to endure.
With this much power you could go around the world, which is worth it because the main path you take is maybe 15% of the entire world. The game has so many secrets and different areas to explore and it would just be wrong not to check them all out.

I highly advise getting this game. Just make sure you got a strong PC, because the trailers don't lie. Everything pixel is fully simulated, and with the fact of how huge the world is and how much destruction you can cause, it would definitely be a huge strain on your PC.

My face hurts from laughter from reading comments under DMC5 videos and it's reviews.

Just get this game. Don't need to bother with DLCs. They are mostly cosmetic with exception of some arms for Nero which aren't a necessity.
