This game is f-cking fantastic and it's a travesty that more people still don't know about it. Combining a massive open world RPG with action game combat and RTS tactics, Brutal Legend is an ambitious game packed with content and story that still holds up today. Its unique heavy metal aesthetic and face-melting soundtrack create one of the best worlds I've ever experienced in a video game. The narrative is also surprisingly solid, thanks in part to the amazing voice work done by Jack Black, Ozzy Osbourne, and Tim Curry. While the various systems can be a little clunky at times, especially during the RTS sections, the core gameplay and aesthetic is so satisfying that it overcomes those issues and makes for a game that is truly great.
