Rain World is a very difficult game. If i hadn't found out about the game through playthroughs and lore videos, I probably would've given up before the game truly began.

That being said, Rain World is such a rewarding experience. It really scratch an itch that I didn't even know I had (I'd say if fills the gap i felt after beating Hollow Knight, but dont get me wrong, they are very different games)

I took a long time with my first playthrough of Survivor (just under 20 hours), and in all that time, I started to understand the game more. Not the lore (I already knew that) but the gameplay itself. You start to understand how the slugcat moves and how to interact with the world you're thrown into.

However, I didn't go into this game completely blind, and I know for a fact I would've had a lot of issues if I did. There is a lot that the game doesn't explain to you, and while that works when trying to have the player explore the world, it ends up being more frustrating than anything. The overseer that guides you does good for giving directions and pointing out danger, but there is a lot that you have to figure out yourself, and not everyone is going to know how to do that

If you do get this game, and you're going into it blind, then there's only one piece of advice I can give. You're going to die a lot, and you're going to get frustrated. But that's the point of the game, and I don't mean that the game is purposefully being difficult to make the player mad, but the game is a harsh ecosystem, and death is a part of the cycle of life. You'll make mistakes and learn from them, just as you do with any other experiences. Soon enough, you'll find yourself no longer helpless, and instead a capable survivor.
