Playing multiplayer games is something that I only got into relatively recently (I never played OW) and I'm not that big a Marvel fan (I hate how it's become so much of a corporate cashcow that it's almost a parody of itself)

But I heckin love this game

The characters are all really fun to play, even the ones that are difficult to master. If you stay out of competitive (lmao) the players are all really lovely and polite. Matches are quick-paced and the sheer number of different types of heroes means that you are constantly having to think of new strategies to make your character work with whoever you've been teamed up with.

Only downside is that too many people play duelists, which inevitably leads me to be the only support. I am not good enough at this game for this to end well. If we had more non-duelist characters, that would be great.

I couldn't even do testingcheatsenabled! Random debugging mode stuff just wouldn't work at all.

This is a very lazy re-release, and it needs some fixes done before I even consider buying this again. A real shame, as this game was a childhood favourite of mine. Ah well, time to get the old expansion pack discs out of the attic I suppose.

A lot of love and care has been put into this game and it shows - everything from the sound design to the artstyle, and all the dialogue and story beats in-between, are as deliciously well-crafted as they are twisted. Being able to switch between the two characters at pre-determined points in the story is a great way to pull you in to this gnarly, thorny world that these two siblings occupy. I await the next chapter with bated breath.

I unironically want more games like this to be made, but with an actually decent amount of care and attention put into it. More dialogue choices, more extended interactions with each catboy, *more fanservice ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥*. If this game had anywhere near as much effort put into it as Nekopara, it would be a top tier game.

Disclaimer, I absolutely am not the target audience of this game lol

However, I'd say that this game offers some pretty genuinely good dating advice. It does this in a way that encourages asserting yourself and being upfront about your needs and intentions whilst also encouraging seeing the woman you're trying to seduce as an actual person that it is worth taking interest in. Way better than what a lot of PUAs encourage you to do.

I like how the game is pretty tongue-in-cheek, but doesn't look down on you for not finding the intricacies of dating intuitive like a lot of normies expect you to. The fact that a game like this exists in the first place is because social expectations are tricky and can be difficult to navigate, especially if you're inexperienced and/or neurodivergent, and mocking guys for needing to play this game is unempathetic and cruel. And this game does what it sets out to do in a respectable way. If I met a good guy and had a decent date with him because he played this game to help him figure out what to do and what not to do, I wouldn't respect him any less for it - if anything, I'd respect the fact that he took the initiative.

I don't know how the first game went (I didn't play it) but from what I can tell, the sequel addressed any criticisms likely pertaining to misogyny very well, and actually took the points people made on board. I guess that's what happens when, without losing sight of your target audience, you take on board a variety of different opinions and perspectives. The multiracial date stuck out to me as the best example of this - that date was so well-handled omg.

So yeah, would recommend. But if you're hoping to play this game to find another way to ♥♥♥♥ on socially awkward dudes, then kindly ♥♥♥♥ off.

The demented byproduct of a threeway between Cruelty Squad, Filmcow, and Disco Elysium. Art.
