I played the tutorial and got to the end and one NPC had generated a faction that made it hostile to the mayor of the town and murdered him immediately. The tutorial not only had been coded to account for that, but went out of it's way to tell me that it's extremely cool and good and wouldn't affect the main questline, so I could keep playing if I wanted to.

This is basically, in terms of a gameplay loop, what I wanted Starfield to be.

Don't be fooled - this is less of a roguelike, and more like Ultima 6 in space. The mechanics are clearly explained and easy to understand, the story is interesting and has several paths you can go down, and there are a variety of activities that don't necessarily increase the complexity of the game. If you want some retro style messing around, this game scratches that itch very well.

It's survival Fallout 4, with way fewer quests but a way more interesting setting (and the series best political humor / critique since the original games!). The environmental storytelling Fallout is famous for is the star here, and it's definitely worth playing to explore the six or so towns and figure out what happened in them - even ignoring the two big story questlines, which are fun also.

It's basically an action version of the Falling Sands / Powder Toy game genre. Fun roguelike, but doesn't have an overall progression - everything resets after a single run.

It's only part one, but the look at Horatio society as a (maybe) defective Horatio is not only fun and funny, but also expands the Endless universe in a fun way.

For those who (like me) have never played a visual novel, the ability to rewind back as far as you want and the multiple save slots make it easy to experience the different branches.

The game ends on a cliffhanger, though. Let's hope part 2 really comes out.
