Resident Evil 4 with better graphics, slower gameplay, poorer pacing, a dramatically reduced sense of style and humour, and zero imagination. There are a handful of improvements in this version aside from the visuals - Luis and Ashley are more well-rounded characters, Leon's jacket from Chapter 1 is now an unlockable costume - but the overwhelming majority of positive elements here are ripped straight from the original with little to no alteration, begging the question of what point there was to a remake in the first place. The sheer creative bankruptcy on show here also makes apparent the parts of the original that are missing (the cable car sequence, the encounter with "It") or flat-out worse (Remake's Salazar is a travesty).

In a vacuum, this isn't a terrible game. However, I can't recommend this version when the 2005 version is available, cheaper, and doesn't make the mistake of taking its very dumb story too seriously.
