This game is shaping up to be the kind of game that if I had played as a kid, it would shape my tastes. Worthy of formative memories.

As a game designer, I really appreciate the small but foundational innovations that could, and I am not exaggerating, revolutionize how old school CRPGs are made. The real time combat with almost turn-based action economy, the duration based stealth (genius in my opinion, has the potential to fix so many problems in many RPGs regarding stealth being too strong or being useless), and the formation system that finally, in an RPG, grants the party a meaningful boost for staying together.

As a consumer of art, I really appreciate the visual design, it is tasty and detailed but it remains clear for gameplay purposes. The choice of instruments and the type of music immensely enhances the atmosphere. The world might be the most interesting one I've seen in years and the writing is done very well, not overwhelming you but also always hooking at your attention with cookie crumbles of worldbuilding details. The world is also quite unique and rather alien, not the average fantasy world.

A piece of art in every aspect, as if it was made for me personally. Can't wait for the full release, currently not going to keep playing because I don't want to have to pause my journey at a time where I'm thoroughly invested in this amazing work of art. Thank you Hannah and Joseph (and everyone else involved, if there are any).

After a few tries at making a good souls-like in their own flavor, these guys finally nailed it with 2.0 update. I can easily say this is a pretty good game, and an even better co-op experience compared to Dark Souls and Elden Ring itself, because there is built in seamless co-op through which the progress also transfers to the partner

First of all, graphical downgrade on release (devs say it's unintentional). More importantly, censorship. The game lost its visceral and unfiltered soul and the way the devs censored some things is extremely lazy and makes no sense for some of the established story. Also, the devs used AI images for assets in missions that were added later on, so I could not have known they would be using AI when I bought the game. Additionally, some gameplay that was teased in videos never made it into the game but it is supposedly fully released now. Still has a considerable amount of minor bugs and glitches as far as I know. As much as I was sure I would have loved what this game looked like it was going to be, I can't recommend it the way it is.

The devs' newer approach to game balance seems to be more fun and I am changing my review to positive to reflect how the changes affected my gameplay experience. I had quit the game because I was only looking forward to unlocking items instead of actually playing the game and it felt like a job. Now I look forward to playing and unlocks are a cool side dish. My initial negative review for the game was as below:

"I love this game and I want to leave a positive review, however, I really need to see that the devs are willing to try buffing options that are favored the least instead of nerfing options with the highest pick rates. Because you'll end up nerfing the fun out of the game over time. Just look at Rainbow Six Siege and the most stated reasons behind people quitting it.

Players will lean towards the best options so that they have fun (winning is fun) and so that they don't feel like they're wasting their time. This is not a job or duty that they must fulfill. You can't police the players out of that behavior, because they're not your citizens and you're not a nanny state. They will leave. The only thing you can do to keep your players from optimizing the fun out of your game is to give them enough options to play "optimally" without thinking about it too much. Not nerf the fun out of your game yourselves.

I'd argue that there's also a mismatch in balance as well, the enemy is getting newer and more powerful tools to frustrate us but we're either stagnating or falling behind in power."

it's good, but then it's bad, but then it's pretty good, but then it's grueling, but then it is perfect

some of the game design is counter-intuitive and it can prove painful to learn new enemies and their mechanics, especially after experiencing RE2R's steadier progression, however, this could've also been the best RE game of all time, if it wasn't for the original RE4, which is still the best imo

you can have so many sapphic kisses and so much lesbian s*x, nothing in the market can match it
also an i can fix her simulator
oh and yeah, there are dungeons & dragons, i guess

edit: jokes aside, this game reawakened the hyperfocus i would fall into while playing games when i was very little, to the point of forgetting to take care of myself (eating, sleeping, peeing etc.)

in other words, it is an incredible game that pulls you so much into it that you don't remember what real life is like for a bit when you're done with it, provided that you can absolutely immerse yourself for a few days, it is allows for ultimate escapism and that's a very special gift for someone who's depressed and anxious

also, Larian has been updating it with surprisingly big additions like the recently added official mod support and the upcoming subclasses (1 per each class), photo mode and crossplay

they love this game and nurture it as their own offspring

I've never had the chance to get my own set for a Guitar Hero game, I always had to play at low-grade arcades. But I still had a blast with it back in the days. This game revived that feeling for me, along with a pretty good doom-like shooter with great game feel and a seamless flow that you tune to while you play. It is as if this game was built specifically for me, even. Perfect.
